Petrino and Miles are heads and shoulders above those (at least in regard to head coaching ability)

By "Arky's" I meant hog fans.

Our expectations are higher. If Petrino went 9-4 every year until the end of his contract, he'd get an extension.

I still think Weis and Petrino are an apt comparison. Both offensive coaches, couldn't give 2 shits about fielding a defense, both came to schools itching to break away from their previous coach, both enjoyed some early success and went to the Sugar Bowl (both lost), both had enormous expectations following the BCS berth...

I suspect Petrino will do better than Weis of course, but I'll only admit that now that SugarHog has given up

BP still falls somewhere between 3-5 best coach in the SECW though.

Fine. Name another NC that had to have 5 teams lose on the last weekend to get into the NC game.

It wasn't five teams. Two teams, Missouri and Pitt lost. #3 Ohio State moved to #1. #4 Virginia Tech had lost to LSU by 40 earlier in the year. #5 Georgia had two losses as wasn't the SEC Champion.

The first week of December is when the big games are played. LSU won theirs and the other guys didn't.

Are you referring to '07? It must really suck, losing that last regular season game.

you realize Arkansas isn't Petrino's first head coaching job, right?

Petrino has stressed in interviews how important he thinks defense is. he's an offensive minded coach, so of course it's easier for him to pull the offense up than to pull the defense up. but our D has gotten progressively better each year, and will be better still next year.

If it's any consolation, we lost our first 3 conference games with one of the most talented teams we've ever had. It would have been 4 in a row, had it not been for the Ole Miss game. Things worked out pretty good for us too. We got a new coach.

I said "comparison", not "clone"

I would hope so if I'm a pig fan - but I also wouldn't hold my breath until I was in the top half of the conference in any major defensive category
