LOL, not even close? Unanimous preseason All American, named by numerous sites as the best player in America, but not even close. Let me guess, he's basically the same as Tray Matthews?

Sports Illustrated, ESPN, CBS, etc etc

Minkah Fitzpatrick was better and proved it on the field. Clearly the better DB on the field boss man...

There are countless players better defensively than him.

Arden Key
Minkah Fitz
Dexter Lawerence
Sean Dion Hamilton

you can even argue that Ronnie Harrison is better...

I think they are pretty similar players, yes. Both will be All-Americans and Top 5-7 picks. An argument can be made for either as best player in the country based on their consistency, playmaking and versatility.

FSU's defense is as close to an SEC defense as you will find in an outside conference.

But I don't think they are quite up there with LSU, AU, Bama, or even UGA if I'm being honest.

He was the leading tackler on your team fam, on the best defense in the best conference in America. I think he has a dog in this fight.

Same can be said for Louisville's offense with Petrino and Lamar Jackson.

Bowl game shouldn't be seen as the same. LSU already had the blueprint to shut them down from Houston.

I'm not saying LSU's defense wasn't great last year, but you also gave up 20 points to Mississippi State. They only scored 3 on Bama and 14 vs Auburn. Hell MSU only put up 17 in their bowl game against Miami(OH)

Was Aranda not ahead of those teams?

they are capable but they just don't perform up to the expectations. Its one thing to be better and its another thing to do better.

Im just confused on what makes them tip top when Bama offense hasn't been tip top. Lets not act like Bama had the most potent offense of all time. For the most part last year it looked as if Bama's defense was scoring all the pts in games if we are being honest.

64 solo tackles 1 int and 4 sacks in a total of 15 games, with 3 years played while coming off injury makes you the best player in the country? wow

You are better than that SoG...I normally enjoy your insight.

Dude, it's been ONE GAME. No one knows shite about any of the units yet. We think we have an idea based on what's on paper, but that's really about it. We'll have a better idea once everyone gets a few conference games and common opponents.

His last 6 games of 2015, Ole Miss 2016 and Alabama 2017

9.8 tackles per game
0.9 TFL per game
0.5 sacks per game
1 INT
1 FF

And everyone who evaluates football players for a living seems to think he's at worst the 3rd or 4th best player in the country. He's a great player.

By that logic, why dont you look at the game in which Bama was held to their lowest point total inf 2016. let me know what you find.

You should read what I was responding to, it was just that. I said coaches prepare differently for games in which they need to take a lot of chances as opposed to games where the other team has no chance of doing anything with the ball. I already admitted Aranda is one of the best DCs in the game, but to use one game to justify it is dumb.

Aranda was also the DC for a 59-0 blowout loss to OSU in the B1G championship game. Does that mean he sucks? hell no

Yet, this entire thread is based off 1 game.

You just used Aranda against Bama as your evidence.

I used Aranda vs Miss. St. Auburn Miami (OH) and OSU as my evidence.

I already said the guy is really good, but I think Don Brown, who had the #1 defense at BC, has proven more

No, I used your logic in which you replied to say it was flawed. So like, the only thing you did here was say YOUR logic sucks.

At his position yes, best player in the country though, definitely a reach. An ACL injury doesn't make him better and he had just 3 tackles against Bama. He has potential but he needs to play more, he might be injury prone, we don't fully know what he can do based off 1 good true freshman year.
