The dimwits who make this argument don't take into consideration just how hard it is to consistently win in Starkville. The fact that he had them at #1 for six weeks is absolutely unreal
Don't be ridiculous. They got to #1 on the strength of winning all of their cupcake games and 3 consecutive SEC wins over top teams (LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn) that were in the top 8 at the time but who were all clearly overrated. Each of those teams was undefeated at the time State beat them and all of those teams finished their seasons 8-5.

This is always such a stupid comment. Not to mention moronic philosophy. It's like the first time they ever saw football was last year. This logic would go for almost every year and every team that reached number 1. As you take out higher teams, of course their losses will go up. I mean, are you stupid or something. And the way state beat those teams has a lasting affect. LSU probably still isn't the same team. It'll take them a while to get back to normal. I feel for them that they gotta come to Starkville the 2nd week.

Could be, but not yet. Saban is easily #1. From there, you could go a multitude of ways. I'll tell ya who he does beat on my list.
Freeze, Mason, Butch, Sumlin, Stoops, McElwain. Probably 6 or so is about right.
Saban, Miles, Richt, Pinkel, Gus all above him for now...with Bert being slightly above due to his wisconsin success.

One day you will wish you had those 10 minutes back from typing all that. A simple Emoticon would have showed your feelings

P4P, I think he is a top 3 coach.... When you consider WHERE he is coaching, attempting to recruit kids that Ole Miss "recuit$"(cough cough) for, AND the fact that he has done a SUPERB job of developing talent then yes he is top 3...

LOL. There's nothing stupid about the comment. MSU absolutely deserved to be ranked #1 at the time. But at the end of the season, their signature wins were clearly diminished as the the teams they beat were not worthy of their rankings at the time and they were surpassed in the polls by teams that went on to lose fewer games than LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn and whose signature wins occurred later in the year. If no poll was taken until the end of the season, MSU would have been lucky to crack the top 10.

Meh- State lost to two highly ranked teams on the road- it happens. Ask Bama

quote:The only time wins over LSU, aTm, and Auburn are inflated is when poor ol mi'tippi tate beats them. All three of those teams have more history and higher ranked recruits than MSU, so which is it...MSU's wins were very impressive last year or that LSU is truly in decline?

People mocked this guy but he made some solid points. LSU can do a lot worse than Dan Mullen
