Top 3 coach? Thats tough. Idk about top 3 but in the top half for sure. For what Croom gave Mullen to 10-3 with majority of 3 star talent. He can coach up players for sure. But he has to win more big games and win the SEC to get to tgat level

Good for you. I have run into some pretty smart construction guys. Could you build a 1776 ft Freedom Tower?

I think he is and have said so for a couple of years now.

I thunk Mullen, Gus and Spurrier in no particular order are the best.

I don't put saban there because he has always been about a .500 coach without superior talent. See his time at MSU, first year at Bama and the Dolphins.

Give Mullen, Gus, or Spurrier the talent saban has at bama and those three coaches win the national championship pretty much every year.

He's the Pinkel of the SEC-W, but sober. If MSU and Mizzou switched divisions, no one would ever know.

Spurrier sucked in the NFL and hasn't won anything of note since he left Florida, so by your logic, that should disqualify him.

Apologies....resolutely, I couldn't build a 1776 Freedom Tower. You nailed me on that one. Sorry for my thoughtless rant

He's not even top 3 in the west. Saban, Miles, Malzahn and Bielemma are better than Mullen.

Why not? Last year he had a better record than Miles. With the facilities, players, recruiting and coaches that LSU has this should NEVER happen. Even in fluke years.

Ok....I won't argue with you about babies, then.

I DO happen to agree with the OP. Mullen is (IMO) one of the best coaches. However, using the "I'm a pediatrician, you're probably a construction worker." argument is incredibly condescending and immaterial. (I work for an air line, so I am not overtly offended, but you sound VERY arrogant using this argument)

It would suck to spend all that time in school and only be a "pediatrician". You could literally just have nurse practitioners in every pediatrician's office and be just as good. Most of the time they are better than the pediatrician anyway.

Based on what? He beat 3 out of the 4 last year with a bunch of 2 and 3 stars in a small state with 2 SEC schools. Bama, LSU, and Auburn rank in the Top 10 for recruiting and all their athletic and recruiting budgets are tremendously higher than State's. I don't know how we would measure overall impact to a program, but I'd bet he has had as much of positive influence on a program as any of those other coaches.

Dan Mullen is a great football coach and a good talent developer. He has really found a niche in Starkville and, while I'm glad the Egg Bowl is heated and competitive, I wish he'd move on so they can get a shitty coach.
