Is Connor Shaw the most underrated quarterback in SEC history?

The Gamecocks saw three consecutive 11-2 seasons under the gunslinger from Flowery Branch, GA's watch - which is unprecedented at a school like South Carolina. Historically speaking, South Carolina is one rung above Mississippi State on the proverbial college football totem pole, underwhelming at best to put it in a favorable spin. Granted Spurrier has worked a small miracle obtaining the success he's seen in Columbia since taking over for Grandpa Lou - after all, this is a program who saw their first bowl win in history in 1994 and were coming off 1-10/0-11 showings at the turn of the millennium.
With that said, I think Conner Shaw deserves more credit as an all-time SEC great. 27-5 career record with an unmatched 17-0 record at Williams Brice (unreal). He was also undefeated against Clemson. 56-16 TD/Int with a 66% completion rate. Tack on another 17 scores on the ground with nearly 1700 yards to boot. Seemed like a good kid and never wanted the spotlight, just wanted to suit up for the ol' ball coach and kick the shite out of people on a weekly basis

No mention of his brother Jaybo? I met Connor at work last year when I was living in Charleston.

Why would I mention his brother?

Your reasoning is sound and Connor definitely deserves more recognition and credit for his accomplishments.

He was great because he stayed within his limitations. The complete opposite of Bo Wallace. Was Conner a great talent, no, but he was damn good at handing the ball off to Lattimore and Davis and lobbing it up or Bruce Ellington. He always knew when to scramble too. South Carolina also had a great defense those three years.

I always felt he was overrated by this board if anything.
Maybe his dreadful performance against a very bad Tennessee team as a senior has left a bad impression on me but he was never someone I dreaded playing at any point in his career.
Average QB surrounded by very solid talent.

I like Shaw, He was tough as hell and a good QB. However, I saw him get dismantled by LSU 2012, like, couldn't do ANYTHING. I think he was definitely good but not elite and not really underrated, he was talked about a decent amount.

Connor was underrated but no QB was more underrated than Hutson Mason who recorded the highest completion percentage in UGA history and only had 4 interceptions. Hutson had two poor games both of which were wins and he was never primarily at fault for a loss.
