Correct. Just a hyped up game manager who benefitted greatly from excellent RBs and defenses. Very little arm talent and was not asked to do much at all in the passing game.
He has always been an SEC Rant legend for whatever reason though.
Good of you to remember his senior game, but not his junior game against y'all when he had 390 total yds of offense and 4 tds overall, including going 22-32 for 356 passing yds and 3 tds, in a game where USC needed every bit of his offense to beat UT 38-35. He may have had his career-best single-game passing day against your crappy team.
But he has a winning record against y'all so I can understand the butt hurt, so carry on....

That would be John Manziel
lol @ John. but yea, I knew there was no way in hell Shaw was the backup. I had forgot they brought in Mccown. Mccown is a band-aid QB if there has ever been one. If Johnny can't get on the field this year, I don't know that he will ever make an impact on an NFL team. Here's to hoping he does though. I was always a fan.

Why are Tennessee fans so jaded? Especially when it comes to anything SC related..

I always felt he was overrated by this board if anything.
Flash back to 2 years ago when the M quarterbacks (Manziel, McCarron, Mettenberger, Murray) were all the talk, Shaw was consistently ranked by nearly every non-USC fan on this board as being maybe the 6th best QB in the SEC in the weekly "Rate the QB" threads. Some folks didn't even remember who Shaw was. His name was lost in the constant bitchfest of who had the best QB in those days, despite Shaw having some of the best numbers and winning percentages.
Connor was criminally underrated going into his last year, but he definitely earned a lot of respect by the time his final year came to a close.
Also, of the quarterbacks mentioned above, Connor was the only one who went undrafted, yet still started an NFL game.

Is this supposed to impress me? Troy had almost 800 yards of total offense against the 2012 Vols defense. Maybe the worst defense in SEC history.
He was a decent little college QB but I don't see him as anything more than a McCarron-lite. Sorry if that offends you.

I think even Driskel was SEC player of the week after going up against UT's legendary 2012 defense.

Maybe his dreadful performance against a very bad Tennessee team as a senior has left a bad impression on me but he was never someone I dreaded playing at any point in his career.
At least you admit you only saw paid attention once. Did he play horrible against UT his last season? Yep... but that was his one terrible game where he threw his only pick that year. That's right... only one.
He threw 24 TDs and 1 INT his senior year.
Hell, we were 3-1 vs Aaron Murray... doesn't mean he wasn't great at what he did.

How could he be underrated? He played 7 fricking seasons in the SEC.

Is he the best QB in SC history?

No doubt the best. Steve Taneyhill would be second.

This is how I remember him:
Shaw vs Arkansas 2011
I was really sure you would've remembered y'all's 2013 Homecoming more, when Shaw beat y'all 52-7
52-7, Shaw with 4 TDs in 3 Q's before the 2nd and 3rd string QB went in...and they also scored

I think he is tough as nails, physically and mentally. You'd have to be if you start 3 consecutive years under Spurrier. He was incredible in the 2013 Mizzou game.

Is that something to brag about? Even our shitty 4-8 team still beat Arkansas by 20 that year.

Connor Shaw and Brandon Cox were the two gutsiest CFB players I can remember.

It is when an Arkansas fan tries to talk shite about one game 4 years ago.
