Good coach who does get benefit of the doubt because of great talent. Even when he was at Memphis he still got them to the NC so I would say he belongs with elite coaches.

Been saying this all along. Cal is a great recruiter, the best in the game. As far as coaching, good, but not great. Only 1 title with the talent that has come through Kentucky the last 7-8 years isn't the best indicator of great coaching prowess.

Actually, I think he's pretty good . His teams, no matter where he's been have always been competitive. When he was at Memphis there was a time for 3-4 years where they were always making it to the Elite 8 and one year to the national final (if only that team could have made free throws).

He knows how to competently handle the fricked up one and done regime that has made college basketball a shite show. When he gets the John Walls and Karl Anthony Towns of the world he makes it to the Final Four. Imagine what he could have done with Martin , Mickey and O'Bryant on the same front court.....you probably would have had a Final Four and possibly a national championship

Can you or any other poster show me links or evidence that John Calipari had any knowledge of what Camby was doing with an agent, or Rose was doing with his test scores?

Alright....the Camby thing was pretty petty I think. It's hard to keep up with the kids and when there are agents sniffing around. But on the Rose thing, he would have had to have been the dumbest Italian since Caesar going to the Senate on March 15th not to know what Rose did....he kept tanking the ACT.....multiple times

He absolutely should have multiple titles at this point.

My biggest gripe. The Wall/Cousins team should have never lost, the 2011 team that got to the FF shouldn't have lost, the 2014 team that got to the FF shouldn't have lost, and obviously 2015 should have gone undefeated.

I don't think it's about Cal. The problem lies with the 1&done rule. When you recruit as well as he does he only has a few weeks to a few months with the best players on the team. They know they are gone after 1 season. How the hell can you expect consistent performance under those conditions? It's what I hate about CBB.

You need at least a couple of seasoned players who are leaders, and that is hard to do in his system. Most of the long term players don't play much. This year, they have Hawkins and Willis, but they are just not vocal leaders.

The 2014 team wasn't even the best team in the conference

I didn't say that. I said when they got to the FF, they should have won.

Why? That UConn team was clearly playing the best basketball in the tourney. They solidly beat UK and the UF team that beat UK three times.

WCS, Randle, and Andrew Harrison are all decent NBA players but it's not like that team was actually overwhelmingly more talented than everyone else.

If there is any team that "should have won" it's the team that went 21-0 and won over 30 straight games.

That's the most damning one to me. How do you lose to Wisconsin with all that talent AND some experience? 6 draft picks, 4 lottery picks right after that season. Unbelievable.

I find it funny that when Cal was at Memphis, every Cat fan I knew despised him, but that all changed when Gillespie was fired and Cal was going to be the Kentucky coach. It's funny how fan bases will turn on a dime.

Hell, I've seen Arkansas do the same in football with Petrino. When he skipped out on the Falcons, every Arkansas fan was jumping through their arse to defend him, myself included. And the moment he got fired for what happened, everyone turned on him.

The same thing will happen for Wildcat fans if the NCAA comes sniffing around and Cal is forced out. Considering the amount of micromanagement that goes on of these guys, it's ridiculous to think that they don't know something shady is going on.

UConn with a hot streak in the tournament is one of the toughest programs to beat in college basketball.

As far as the Wall/Cousins class, they lacked the perimeter shooter that would've been Jodie Meeks. In hindsight, I think Cal thought he had a shot at keeping him at UK but he wanted no part of another coach after Gillispie and how he did him over his sports hernia.

Cal is great at hiring mercenaries to attempt to win him championships instead of actually developing talent like most good coaches
