This is a fact. You sir are a wise man.

Never doubt this fact.

Cal never has a veteran squad. In 8 season, he has gone to about 5 final fours and 3 title games and a title, with freshmen leading. He can coach. It's absurd to think otherwise.

What this particular team doesn't yet grasp, is they are everyone's super bowl and you have to play hard for 40 minutes each game, as you are getting your opponent's best effort.

If the opponent, like last night, has some veteran players, their lack of effort will be exposed.

Cal understands this better than any other coach in America. Will it finally sink in for this group of players in time to save the season? I don't know. Not looking like it.

Marcus Camby carried that team...he won Wooden and Naismith.

Cal is a great recruiter. But that was a one-man gang with Camby like when Melo carried Cuse.

Most important part of coaching is recruiting, so Cal's a great coach by definition.

Vacating those wins doesn't magically make his coaching ability disappear (which is what the OP is questioning).

That's like saying Pete Carroll couldn't coach in college because of what was vacated at Southern Cal.

The problem is the one and done strategy. First the avg one and done is no better than a Jr sr with NBA aspirations. Right now bam is no better than Moses kingsley he might be better in 4 years but not now.

Secondly one and done only makes sense once or twice in. A gengyration. Fab 5, oden and conley. Davis and mkg. The class with booker and Luis, etc

One and done only makes sense when u have a true NBA superstar on your roster to make up for everything else.

All those 5 stars UK has coming in next year don't mean shite because they are missing the only two that matter, porter Jr and ayton.

Monk is good but he's not s transitional talent bam is or run of the mill big who matured before everyone else. I love fox but he's been sick. Notice how this streak runs directly with fox injury against us

The truth is UK just isn't that good this year they will be lucky to make the sweet 16

Briscoe isn't the leader we all hoped he would be. When you do the one and done thing, you need at least a settling/calming leader influence, and that is missing this year.

I agree that it doesn't make his coaching ability disappear, but it does speak something about his methods, which have absolutely nothing to do with said ability.

I think cal can coach. He's damn good at it

But maybe other coaches would be great if they cheated as much as he has. I lose respect for those guys

Two final fours that were vacated. Jesus. That Memphis thing is a joke

Can you or any other poster show me links or evidence that John Calipari had any knowledge of what Camby was doing with an agent, or Rose was doing with his test scores?

I'm sure it's a total coincidence that Cal just happened to be coach when those schools decided to start cheating

Cal has the innate ability to take freshmen 5* and get them to play at their highest level right away. Most other coaches with the same talent could not touch what he's done.

A college basketball roster has what, 13 players on it? A typical major college basketball program has at least 6 bench coaches in various positions. Too, there are more than a few off the bench staff members who are responsible for various player related issues. If he did not know that his two STUD players, high school players of the year types, were receiving illegal aide, he is a fool. He didn't know what Cambry & Rose were up to?? Really? Two major universities where he was the HC had NCAA violations to the extent NCAA playoff wins were vacated & money returned. He doesn't cheat??

This is the worse team UK has had in years. Cal missed on this group of one and dones. They are getting worse every game. Has that center hit a free throw all season?

Cal has had two seasons in which he'd have been in the title game at the end of the regular season based on ranking. Saban did it 4 times prior to the playoffs and was ranked #1 or #2 going into the playoffs the oast two seasons
