An almost lifetime achievement award based upon a superior football team. AJ doesn't start at most schools that have good QBs

AJ was I believe a 4* with a number of other offers and slated to go to Miami......he is doing well in Cincy and is the solid #2 to Andy Dalton.

How is Johnny Rehab progressing?

Dumb rumors. Coker starts, book it.

WRONG, Morris took 85% of the 1st team snaps at the scrimmage. I was there. Pretty telling wouldn't you say? Morris and Bateman had the best showing. Coker was awful.

didnt his 1st starting qb that he recruited at bama 2nd in the heisman?
Look at the list of names, only AJ was truly able to over come the coaching. As stated, Bama does not need a hotshot QB to be successful.

2007 - Nick Fanuzzi
2008 - Star Jackson, Brad Smelley
2009 - AJ McCarron (Second Place Heisman)
2010 - Philip Sims (Blake Sims was not recruited as a QB)
2011 - Phillip Ely
2012 - Alec Morris
2013 - Parker McLeod, Cooper Batemen
2014 - David Cornwell
2015 - Blake Barnett
Transfer - Jake "All World" Coker

It's possible. Saban has finally taken enough notice of his performance to actually call him by his correct name, so that's a sign of something.

Also, if he starts, it will be a clear sign that Saban thinks this D is legit and just wants a QB to do "enough" and not hurt the team. If the QB play is simply adequate, then Bama is going to have a great year. If the QB throws multiple INTs in a game and/or puts the opposing O in scoring position through mistakes (see AJ in 2011 against LSU), then they could drop a game they shouldn't.

The QB position will be the biggest blip on Saban's resume. He's never been able to develop a QB

Alabama's QB development has been pretty good during Saban's time. He inherited JPW and most would say he was able to get the max out of JPW's somewhat limited talent. Set several Alabama passing records.

He inherited McElroy too and similar to JPW he was able to maximize McElroy's average talents. Set more Alabama passing records.

AJ McCarron was basically Saban's first QB recruit and you are crazy if you don't think he was developed well. He got better and better each year, broke basically all of Bama's records, and was easily one of the best QBs in the country his last two years.

Sims was developed from a journeyman, utility player to another record setting Alabama QB who earned a second team all-SEC selection.

With the current group it's still to be determined.

If Alabama hasn't had success developing QBs during Saban's tenure, then most teams have been downright awful at it by comparison.

Which records?

He threw for 2200 yards, 10 TDs, and 8 INTs his SR year.

ETA: Ah, I see. Career passing yards. Makes sense since he is Alabama's all time leader in attempts and at the time had 300 more attempts than anyone else at Alabama.

So was this guy:

Probably a more accurate comparison than to JPW, McElroy or AJ.

That and single season records for pass attempts, pass completions, passing yards, and touchdown passes in 2007. In 2008 Alabama wisely went very run heavy with a really good run blocking line, very good running backs and a good defense.

Obviously he wasn't a great QB and was never going to be no matter how much "development" he got. I still maintain Saban got about the max out of JPW during his time here.

Every year, our rivals mock our QB. Wilson, Gmac, AJ, Sims and now it will be whoever we start this year. And every year we win 10+ games and compete for SEC and National titles. When will you guys figure out that Saban's machine doesn't revolve around a QB like so many of your teams do? We don't live and die on the QB, especially when we have an elite D, good special teams and a solid running game. Bama will once again win 10 or more this year and be right in the hunt in late November.

It appears to be a serious possibility right now. And, I don't have a problem with it. I actually picked him to win the starting job last year, before it turned into a Sims/Coker race. I think he can be Gmac 2.0. That may be all we need this year. What we don't need is a guy that makes a bunch of mental errors and throws INT's.

Saban looks like Alabama just threw a game-losing int.

Everyone else looks like Alabama just scored a game-winning TD.

I'm tempted to say early pass to Drake against FL.
