2nd to the Yankees.
If college football only had a handful of programs to compete against, like MLB, I'm sure we'd have more than 27 titles.
We are second to no one.

nah that'd be Arkansas track and field

If you say "program" I would assume that means college. I dunno. Bama football, UCLA basketball. Tough choice

We have track programs that have reeled off 11 straight national titles. Are those considered?
Prolly not. I would only consider football, basketball and baseball.

It's pretty unrivaled, really only the Yankees have that kind of longevity.

UCLA's 9 in a row is amazing but they're not even considered the best basketball program.
Yes they are, breh. UCLA is #1 in national championships and final fours. They're the best college basketball program ever.

and Real wasn't really that good of a club before they got Di stefano tbh. and while they did win the first 5 European cups while they had him, they haven't even been the best club in Spain since. (they completely fricked Barcelona over in signing him btw, it was horseshite. should have been a barça player.) if you add up all the trophies
- league titles, cdr, supercopas, in addition to European cups - Barcelona actually has more over all.
anyway they still have a strong argument to be the most decorated club of all time, along with barça, Bayern, and ac Milan, but it's really not like they're way out in front of the field like many casual fans assume.
and they didn't have Sunyol killed. that's a lazy myth. you should read Sid Lowe's book if you're interested. it's very good.

Celtics won more in a row but Lakers are a better program over the long haul.
Bama has elite dynasties as the top team in the country in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 60s, 70s, and 2010s. Also won a Natty and conference titles in the 90s. It's pretty unrivaled, really only the Yankees have that kind of longevity.
The UCLA 9 in a row is the greatest dynasty. Bama football is the greatest program just based on, as you said, the longevity of it.

I disagree. I put Kentucky/UNC over them for the sake of longevity into the modern day. The same reason I would put Oklahoma and USC over Notre Dame

I think looking at it objectively and realistically, yes.

I would take Celtics and lakers over bans. Nothing against Bama or college football but I'm pro sports the champions are named on the field. Most of bs championships were subjective.

One off Final Four in a decade is not super impressive. They need to have more than one dynasty in different eras.
Posted on 1/13/16 at 5:07 pm to genro
quote:that only applies to the 80s and the 90s. UCLA made it to three final fours in a decade as recently as the 2000s

im not arguing that UCLA is tGOAT basketball power. im only arguing that UCLA has 100% had longevity as a basketball power and is clearly a member of the big 3 with kentucky and UNC

UNC women's soccer. Seriously. Only a handful of teams even have championships in it- UNC has 22 out of 37 championships
Posted on 1/13/16 at 5:12 pm to WestCoastAg
Ok. Again, I'm talking about multiple dynasties. UCLA had remained relevant but they have not had multiple dynasties into the modern era.
