It only hit him the hands because Howard Matthews went for the hit.
Dude...I linked the freaking video.
Howard Matthews was coming in from the left while the ball hit Kenny Bell on the right side of his body. Had Matthews gone for the interception Kenny Bell would have been off to the races because Matthews would have been on the ground after whiffing on the pick.

Its funny how he keeps focusing on this one play.
Not really. Trying to say that it was more than a lucky tip pick. This one is special.

Your Crimson Shades are hilarious. He was in perfect position to do whatever he wanted on that play.

AJ is a better quarterback than he is allowed to be in Alabama's system. Could he have better stats yardage wise than he does. Of course.
But just because he plays within his system does not make him a "system QB" who is only effective because of a system. That's someone like Chris Todd -- sorry Aubies.
AJ makes his system better. AJ makes his system the dominant machine that is.
Here's an example that everyone likes to bring up. Namely, the offensive line.
Everyone likes to talk about how great Alabama's line was last year, but they never bring up the fact that AJ made that line better by virtue of how he moved within the pocket. His pocket awareness and movement allowed his blockers to hold their blocks for longer than they would have been able to with a lesser QB. Coaches have said multiple times that AJ's pocket awareness is off the charts -- the best they've ever seen.
Or how about this gem. All he does is dump the ball off. Anyone can do that.
Yes, anyone can dump the ball off. Not everyone can dump the ball off at the right time and pick up 25 yards and TD.
Alabama's system does not allow AJ to be flashy, but the things he is allowed to do he does exceptionally well 99% of the time.
Would Alabama be successful without AJ? Probably. Would they be as successful? Would they win as easily and as often? Hell no, and anyone that says different is a damn fool.

Does he moonlight as Kal-El or Dr. Manhattan or something?
All he could do was throw himself into Kenny Bell and hope for separation. He got separation and more. Well done.

At the end of the day, he's going to be at worst the starting quarterback for two national champions and a first round draft pick. This thread should serve as proof as to the answer of the title

Hell nah. Alabama has the same record if you take any QB off any of the top 30 teams in the country. AJ ain't shite.
Not close to being true.

I doubt he's a first rounder unless he really goes off and improves his velocity on deep throws and shows a willingness to go deep against zone coverage rather than just man on man to the outside. This is something that NFL scouts really want to see out of first rounders. I think he's a second rounder that has the opportunity to develop into a starter at the next level over a season or two.

I've yet to see anyone peg him later than the first round

You're so fricking annoying...you think you're some gods gift to football fans when you're actually just a successful troll who is calling AJ a shitty QB because of one throw...one throw you couldn't make either....what was it again...AJ would be 3rd string at A&M?
Posted on 8/25/13 at 4:45 pm to Riseupfromtherubble
CBSSports currently has him ranked number 47 and going in the second round. We will see.

Didn't you hear man? AJ is the only QB in America to have good players around him. I actually wonder how many times in this thread alone has the great phrases of our time been used...."I could throw for 3k yards and 30 td's behind that offensive line" OR this dandy..."When you have RB's running for 7 yards a carry and Cooper running past DB's of course he's going to have good stats"

I love aj haters. Like kat williams says "if you only got 15 haters you need to figure out how to get 18 of them mutha frickers before summer gets here." Then im pretty sure he says Roll Tide.

I can see how it looks that way to the naked eye, but people who understand football know that the defensive back chose to let it hit the receiver in the hands and wait for the ball to pop into the air. It's just basic pass coverage 101.
Of course. And anyone who has ever played football (on offense anyway) will agree that if the WR's hands can touch it, the WR should catch it, no excuses, doesn't matter who hits you. It's on you if you don't catch it.

Kenny Hill seems to have a really good grasp of the offense and is mobile. I have no idea how AJ is. Against good teams last year he was underwhelming. He had 3 bad quarters against LSU, and 4 agsinst A&M. I was at a wedding when he played Georgia, so I only saw highlights. I don't know if he'd be third string, but it'd be close.
