UGA: Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, & aTm
WHY does everybody keep pairing us with SC?
We have NO VIBES with them. The ONLY thing is we share is being bordering states. We have more history with Kentucky & Vanderbilt!!!

Well they've only been in the league since 1992. You've played them every year since then and it seems like a pretty heated budding rivalry to the rest of us.

I believe the requirement now is that every team play during regular season and the two best teams can then face off.
Only if your conference has fewer than 12 teams. If you have 12 or more teams in conference, you MUST have divisions still.

You sure seem anxious to carry water for the NCAA
I don't get it, anyway, I am confident that the SEC could force a rule change

The id a is to balance strength of schedule, travel time and history
We do have a strong history with SC
We would likely be their 1st choice and the travel makes more sense than any other team
Plus, UF & AU are locks for us, SC is the easy 3rd choice J St based on proximity

The only problems being mentioned so far happen to be problems we currently have (tie-breakers, etc) maybe not so drastic, but the payoff/benefits make it WELL worth it to give it a go.
And this cannot be the first time this has been brought up. I can't imagine a room full of people who are paid to figure this shite out and problem solve haven't ran this by the Commish at some point. There's gotta be some bs reason it hasn't happened yet. Too good to be true

There's no way in hell that we would get rid of the WLOCP for a permanent UF/UT game. Florida has won the past 11 of 12 and that's the only reason y'all hate them, we've been losing to them and hating them a lot longer.

Arguably the best idea I have seen so far but how do you balance those three?

I like this idea. The only problem I see with it now is for the current Western division teams. Without Alabama coming in every other year, how are they going to sale season tickets?
Every team in the West (Excluding Bama and LSU) with the team combinations people are putting out would be facing Bama or LSU every other year at home. Then you get teams like Florida, UGA, and Tennessee much more frequently. Tickets still shouldn't be too hard to sell if Bama isn't their permanent opponent.

I like the idea. I also agree the tiebreakers would be extensive and no doubt there would be controversy. But, that is status quo for CFB rankings and championship pairings.
To prevent coin flips and head coach-QB pairings in a three-legged race from determining the SEC CG reps when overall records and head to head match ups do not provide clear winners, I'd prefer to simplify it and give the SEC Champ the best chance at the CFB playoffs.
Top 2 SEC teams in final regular season CFB playoff committee rankings play in the SEC CG.

Not anxious at all. I'm merely pointing out the flaws in the OP's plan. The rule can be changed. But as of right now, we can't get rid of divisions in the SEC until we have 11 or fewer teams in the conference.

Interesting idea on VOLS radio today re: divisions and scheduling

Sorry, I just don't see it. I've seen more build up to Mississippi than SC

If I is 3 teams, we get AU, UF & SC
For the same reason you can count on LSU getting aTm - those expansion teams were brought in with the expectation that they would get those games every year
Hell, WE were a huge motivating force behind SC getting the 2nd invite when FSU bailed on us
Vince Dooley lobbied hard for the Gamecocks, we had been playing them yearly for a decent number of years before expansion
And we would be their 1st choice, there is no scenario that I can imagine that gives us Tennessee ahead of them, especially since we would not be on their 3 or even 4 team wish list

My 3 would be: Aub., Fl., & TN. 4th would be LSU or Miss..

Is this when you act like Florida has been a power for the past 5-7 years and forget Alabama has played, and destroyed, the same Florida over that period of time?
