That's actually kinda easy - A Louisiana team relegated to the Indy Bowl couldn't even get out of its own perceived back yard. Fans assume that the rest of the NCAA Football community sees the invite as a homer "Pity Bid" and therefor even lower than a pre-Christmas game.

I remember a couple of LSU Indy Bowl matchups to which we were grateful to have been relegated. And LSU should thank Shreveport for having them.

Oh, but they have. They gave 'em a Med School.

Not positive but I'm pretty sure LSUMC Shreveport was a med school a long time before LSU got involved in it. It used to be called Confederate and my grandmother was there in the 40's I think getting a nursing degree. As was Bill Clinton's mom. Not sure when they started training doctors but I think it was before LSU got involved.

LSU didn't have much to do with that place getting established as a teaching hospital.

It's called sarcasm, faxis.

And FWIW - my little sister finished 7th in her class at LSUMC Shreveport en route to becoming a surgeon in Louisville.

What if its Utah vs Wake Forest? I think that game would set the record for lowest attendance for a bowl game

1. The chances that Wake Forest will end up in a post-Christmas Bowl are pretty slim.

2. The last post-Christmas Bowl appearance by Wake Forest was the 2007 Meineke Car Care Bowl. Attendance: 53,126

Utah? Who knows how many they'll bring... but I'd bet you could safely count on 15,000+ (especially if it's their first trip).

SEC gets the Gator Bowl (Jax) starting next season. Unfortuantely it is another Big 11 matchup.

This has been the year of my growing disdain for LSU fans who boo in Tiger Stadium or who so viciously rip other LSU fans on message boards.

BB @ Irving - I am sorry for whatever happened in your childhood to make you so angry. Time to work on those issues.

I don't know how much attention that you Indy bashers pay to the bowl, but I think a bowl game that's 30 years old has been doing something right.

And how's that New Orleans Bowl been working out? It's like a 13th regular season game for So. Miss.

As far as visiting fan bases are concerned, they like it here. Best casinos in the south, lots of family oriented events if gambling's not your thing, being treated like a long lost relative.

By the way, we don't need south louisiana to survive. So Mr. I-10, stay home and watch another rerun of Justin Wilson.

Wake Forest actually played a really good game against Oregon back in the 90s, winnin 38-35 or something like that. You may be right about the fan bases coming to Shreveport, but the Indy Bowl existed before they got in bed with the SEC/Big XII, and they will make it with the MWC/ACC too.

okay, I looked on the bowl website and it was 39-35, but I also something interesting about their bowl payout. This decade they have payed out as much as $2,521,940. That is up there with the Holiday Bowl and better than other "tourist attractions" like the Liberty Bowl. Does it attract mediocre teams, yes. But that is a problem created by the idiotic bowl system, not Shreveport.

The Big 12 is dropping the Indy Bowl to play a Big East team in the Bowl at Yankee Stadium for the next 4 years. That Bowl will pay out $2 million and probably play on New Years Eve in New York City. Which place do you think Big 12 fans would rather be in?

I think most fans would drive to Shreveport verses flying to NYC for their team that under achieved that season. It's a major expense I bet the average fan won't take on. We will see next year but my bet is it will rival the Emerald Bowl in attendance. I think the Indy repped well this year. They just can't match the bucks.

I love the coonasses bashing Shreveport and North La. Do they not realize all of Louisiana is shite? Shreveport would be a lot better off if it were part of Texas.

Lafayette is full of trashy people who think they are somehow classy. Basically a bunch of coonass guidos.

Baton Rouge has no identity. They claim the whole Louisiana charm and cuisine thing, but its nothing but a few good restaurants mixed in with a ton of chains and big box stores. Sweet traffic too.

New Orleans is ok, but nothing like it used to be. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I doubt it ever will be what is used to, either.

Lake Charles is, well, Lake Charles.
