But...there was just something about Nick Marshall. Maybe it was his quiet demeanor, his ability to lead by example or his drive to ultimately prove critics wrong both on and off the field.
Not a Marshall hater but is this a joke?

Almost played for Kansas State, as well...

Nicks style would probably work better against some teams as opposed to Jeremy's style this year but I wouldn't trade JJ for anyone in the SEC.

More interested to see how Johnson reacts as the #1 QB. I saw him several times in high school and his demeanor when things weren't going right was not very good. He did a lot of finger pointing and had an incredibly bad attitude. He also had a huge tendency to revert to throwing off his back feet when pressed a little. I am sure he has received some solid coaching as he sure didn't get it while at Carver. Hopefully he has matured to the level he needs to be now that he has the reins. Hope he has a solid year for Auburn... I like to see the local players do well regardless of team.

quote:Doubt it. Johnson will run more of a power read option instead of the edge attack we ran with Nick. Different styles, both effective. And JJ is a better passer
Nick Marshall will be harder to replace than us Auburn fans think..

Didn't read but Jeremy gonna wreck shite

Nick Marshall did a great job. He will be missed for sure.
We lose a lot from last year. While I am optimistic the offense will still do well, it is not a stretch to say his elusiveness and ability to keep drives alive will be missed.

He won't be missed by me. I'm fricking glad he's gone. As many DB jokes Bama fans made, he turned out to be a hell of a threat. He was fast and tough to bring down.

Truth, a QB usually does point at hIs receivers after they catch a pass for a touchdown.

I think Johnson will be better in the post game interviews too.

He also chose to risk his career and his teams season by smoking weed just before the season.
We need a leader with Johnsons type of character.
This type of thinking shows you have zero idea what happens on all major college teams in the country. Not getting caught doesn't mean your being perfect examples for the locker room. I have no personal knowledge about JJ, but it is a silly assertion that somehow there aren't great players/leaders all over the country smoking weed each week.
The thread is true. I hope JJ lives up to the hype. He has so much talent it is hard to imagine he won't be good at the least, but the intangible ability NM had to play his best in the toughest situations is a rare gift that isn't given to all athletes including many who have bucket loads of talent.
I am hoping we don't need all the clutch heroics because I am hoping the D is serviceable or dare I say decent.

Don't get me wrong. I love some NM when he was ON the field. But he was a guy who clearly did not learn his lesson after his georgia dismissal. He frustrated me with his off season antics.
That said, he is easily one of Auburn's ten most electric players in history. However, Gus will adapt his play calling to showcase the play of JJ. JJ has sat quietly for two years and not gotten in trouble once. That speaks volumes about him.
In the entirety, I do not think we will miss NM at all.

You said he deserves more credit and appreciation, very few AU fans already appreciate him for what he did and accomplished, and TTs is claiming he is hard to replace (Highly doubt it)
We will just get a different style off play. Both you and TTs enjoy the season and I expect to see your posts after JJ leaves saying "No way can we replace JJ".
