3 out of the 4 coaches let go at Auburn still want to live in this community: Pat Dye, Gene Chizik, and Tommy Tuberville.

Still getting paid to keep quiet. Why move away?

What other SEC schools have that many fired coaches still in the area?

Knoxville has or has had a metric ton of coaches that were fired and stayed in the area. Chavis has kept his home base here through 3 schools. It's still home for him. Fulmer never left. Pearl stayed for years and I believe kept a place for a while even after being hired at Auburn and even Butch's fam is still here.

Auburn in general is a great community. Not sure why you throw Alabama in there since Auburn is actually in Georgia.

I guess I compare Auburn to Athens, and there’s no comparison. Athens is one of the best and most beautiful college towns in America.

Pittman left and wanted to come back so bad he took our head coaching job.

He owns property in Hot Springs and loves the state.

Not coaches, but very many out of state players have chosen to live and work in Arkansas.

We take care of our Hogs.

Auburn and Athens both show up on top places to retire lists. Each has their strengths so I’m not sure what you’re getting at. Athens is not significantly better.

I am correct. Sorry to spoil your narrative. That also helps explain why they are still in the area.

BTW, Bowden also resigned. Chizik still the only of the four that was terminated by Auburn.

Dye Quits as Coach at Auburn

Tuberville stepped down Wednesday

Auburn fires Gene Chizik

It's cute that you believe that.

Tuberville left having won six out of his last seven against Alabama. Auburn reacted quickly because that 2008 Iron Bowl combined with Alabama being 12-0 was such a bad look.

Sure it was Shula that he took full advantage of but looking back that's crazy to think about. Post 2003 the Auburn BoT and Lowder were just looking for reasons to get rid of him. The 2004 season/Shula prolonged that quite a bit.

The only coach in the last 40 years who is currently not living there is Terry Bowden. He's currently at Auburn with a river (Clemson).

He just had a daughter or neice just graduate last year. They may not live there but they have maintained extensive ties

I don't know that this is uncommon

For LSU, Paul Dietzel and Charlie Mclendon retired in Baton Rouge.

Les Miles and Denardo stayed for years until they got their next coaching jobs.

Former head basketball coaches John Brady and Dale Brown still live here as well.
