The Auburn area is a great community. When you factor in that we overpay our coaches consistently and give big settlements to even those who "resign", it makes sense.

Auburn is a great area to live, by Alabama standards. It's easy to see why they wouldn't leave

out of the 4 coaches let go at Auburn still want to live in this community: Pat Dye, Gene Chizik, and Tommy Tuberville.

Why wouldn't they? Not a bad place to live and I believe almost all of em have business interest there especially Chizik.

Auburn in general is a great community. Not sure why you throw Alabama in there since Auburn is actually in Georgia.

I moved to Knoxville, from Alabama, in 2017. It took a while, but I consider it my home now. It is a very nice city. The perfect size with some nice places to visit and hike. The only reason I'd want to move back to Alabama is to be around family, but Knoxville is now my home. And, I got to meet renowned WWE superstar, Kane!

It's a good deal if you can get it.

I wonder if Lake Martin has anything to do with this?

Of course it does, that's where they keep their pants.

The only coach in the last 40 years who is currently not living there is Terry Bowden.
Bowden lived there himself from the time he resigned in '98 until he got his first gig back in coaching at UNA 11 years later.

I seem to recall reading that he still owns a house in the area.

I'm sure some of that has to do with their kids. Sometimes they stay put if the kids are happy where they are since coaches move around so much and aren't home much during the season as is. Chizik and Tubberville both had kids in high school or younger when they were fired. And don't Chizik's daughters go to Auburn now?

Don't all coaches get paid a-hole?

I'm probably wrong, but didn't Tuberville move back to Auburn from Florida so that he could run for the Senate as a Pinebox Republican?

Coaches are at the peak of their careers when they’re hired by Auburn. They are probably planning retirement when they take the position.

They make bank at Auburn and they stay employed with consistently middling results. Hell, what's not to love about that kind of gig?

Where else would they go? Jimbo's neighborhood in College Station? Think all retired coaches will pass on that.
