Atlanta is an hour and change away, and it's a pretty badass city.

Our facilities are not on par w/ UTk's. Not sure why our fans would try to argue to the contrary.

Columbia is superior to Knoxville, that's not really up for debate. Columbia isn't a must-see city in the south, but it's also not a BAD place. It's a perfectly reasonable place to live and work w/ some quality amenities. It's right there in the center of the bell curve. On the flip side, I really dislike Knoxville. Personal preference, though.

SC produces more talent than Tennessee. 54 NFL players are from the state of SC, the number is 35 for Tennessee. UTk fans will no doubt point out that Tennessee is a growing state. That is true, but SC is actually growing faster. SC = 3.23% annually, Tenn = 2.36% annually.

Fans? I'll take USC's any day of the week EXCEPT for alumni giving. Think UTk probably still has the edge there.

History goes to UTk, obviously. That can be a huge recruiting draw, but it fades each year that UTk doesn't make it back into the SEC's upper echelon. It appears as if UTk has finally found a coach who can bring them back in Butch Jones. I think he's a good coach and recruiter.

Way to establish credibility...

Knoxville and Columbia each have ups and downs. I, and probably most people on here, prefer Knoxville. But don't let that get in the way of your worldview.

They do. However, they have to share it with Auburn. Plus, UT is closer to NC and VA than Bama is. A good, elite recruiter could pull in talent from there.

Except for West and Middle Tennessee are much more like Georgia in that the entire area isn't 100% in-state based. They may not have an Auburn in-state, but they have to deal with Ole Miss/Alabama/Georgia/Auburn/etc taking a kid or two each year due to various circumstances.

In Alabama, most kids are going to go to Alabama or Auburn (when both or 1 is good) except for the 5% from the coast that decide on LSU or FSU.

No my feels are great right now actually. You can't say "Columbia is better than Knoxville, period." And then say "I don't like Knoxville because of personal reasons" in the same post and not expect to get called out.

Saban could still build a championship program at UT, but I do not think he would have the same success that he has had at alabama. When you think top college football programs Alabama is at the top, or near the top in everyones list. Tennessee isnt. Tennessee is still a better program then alot of other SEC schools

Columbia > Knoxville, objectively. Subjectively, there will be people who like Knoxville better for all sorts of reasons.

NYC is the best U.S. city by almost any standard you use. I happen to prefer Chicago.

Yeah, no. Alabamas obviously higher, but we are a top 10 program no doubt.

It's impossible to measure cities objectively. There are thousands of factors that would go into a ranking like that, and everything would have to be weighted differently. There's no perfect formula to rate one city better than another.

With that being said, knoxvilles better

Top 10 ehhhh. Top 20 no doubt. There are some pretty good programs out there in todays day and age. Tennessee has a good past but its been over 10 years since you have been relevant... no flame! Top 20!

Plus, you don't have to worry about sharing it now that Vandy is terrible.

I have only driven through Columbia on my way to Myrtle Beach, but I would agree with everything you said about UT except this. Yes, there is population growth in middle Tennessee and that translates into more talent. Yes, east Tennessee is beautiful. But UT will always have to share the talent...just not with Vandy or other instate teams. Memphis is a helluva long way from Knoxville, and teams like Ole Miss and Alabama are going to continue to get their share of players from middle and west Tennessee.

But yeah...I would choose UT over USCe...even if it meant having to go for regular chemo treatments because of all the exposure to orange polyester.

just for fun.
alabama, auburn, uga, florida, LSU...
Thats 5 that have better programs, then you have USC, Notre Dame, Nebraska, michigan, penn st, oklahoma, texas. Not saying they are all better but certainly up there. Maybe top 10, but it doesnt really matter. There are some really strong football programs out there!
