I wasn't alive but I've gotta say 1959 OM/LSU... If Billy Cannon doesn't house that kick I think that Rebel team is considered by most writers and historians to be the greatest college football team of all time.

nope, changing the basketball one to 1976 vs Indiana in the NCAA tourney.... Bama wins that and Wimp Sanderson has a talented enough team to win the whole thing. Bama Basketball could possibly a very different animal today.

2001 SEC Championship Game. Fulmer probably retires, and the next coach inherits the most talented team in the SEC.

1981 Georgia Tech.
Won the SEC (tied with UGA at 6-0) but lost at home to a Georgia Tech team that finished 1-10. The only other regular season blemish was a tie with a 9 win Southern Miss team led by Reggie Collier.
Had they won the Tech game, Bear likely would have gotten a shot at another title in the Sugar Bowl.
28-27 hurt because it was Auburn & Cam, but that team had already lost twice. It wasn't going to win anything.
How does this make sense to you?

That team that went 8-5?
Y'all need to let that SEC title game go, Miami was gonna steamroll whoever they played.

Yup. With Spurrier leaving, the new coach would have found himself in a great position.

No question.

Hell I want the ATM game from this year. We win that then JFF does not win the heisman/we go undefeated / I don't have to deal insufferable AtM fans that argue they should have been playing Notre Dame.
From my time as a student? 4th and 19 vs Tennessee. Epic game and we deserved to win.

I hated to witness te 28-27 game - but it wasn't like it would have done Bama any good to win it. We already had 2 losses.
Perhaps that loss to AU just propelled our guys to stomp the shite out of MichState in Orlando, but it didn't change Bama's season in any important way.

I doubt that. According to you, you had 2 regular season losses including at home to a 1-10 GT team. In 1981 UGA was 11-1 in the regular season and our only loss was on the road to a Clemson team that would end up winning the national title. I know things were screwy back then, but I don't see how that UGA team would've gotten passed by bama.
No, that's not what I said at all.
I said Alabama's only other blemish was a tie with a 9 win Southern Miss team.
So, for starters Tie > Loss.
Throw in that Alabama had started the season ranked #2 and was actually ranked 10th compared to UGA's 17th after Bama's loss to Tech and UGA's loss to Clemson and you've got a situation where an undefeated but tied Alabama and higher ranked Bama gets the Sugar nod over the one loss UGA every single time.

Utah game, New Orleans would have been much more fun then.

Oh, I don't know. Simple math maybe?
Maybe since after both lost Alabama was ranked 10th and UGA 17th?
Without the GT loss, UGA doesn't pass Bama in the final poll and an undefeated Bama's in the Sugar?

Easily the 2008 sec championship. I was a senior at bama that year and that game ruined everything.
