Never , in the history of the BCS , has who you lost too counted for more than who you beat. If it did then UF would've been sitting at home in 06 when you lost Auburn and Michigan lost to Ohio state , by three points.
Last year selection has literally never happens. The eyeball test was used.

06 Auburn finished 11-2 and #8.
11 Iowa St finished 6-7 and unranked.
One of these isn't like the other.

Auburn was a hell of a team in '06. 11-2 with a Cotton Bowl win. Maybe I midread your post. Don't understand how Auburn '06 is similar to '11 Iowa State.

It's a tough choice between the 5th down vs. #1 Colorado in 1990 or the kicked ball against #1 Nebraska in 1997.

Both were equally sh*tty

You still lost to a team ranked lower than Michigan. Michigan lost to the #1 team. Florida lost to auburn

I'm not saying auburn sucked. Just stating that Michigan lost to a higher ranked team. It's a fact that who you lost too has never outweighed who you beat. Never

But they beat better teams... I think I'm beginning to see your point.

1975 - A&M @ Arkansas Cost us a legit shot at a NC in the final game of the season.

This. I take back what I earlier said about not wanting to change a thing. This was my freshman year. Undefeated and ranked #2, and for whatever reason Texas wasn't the last game of the season. Boom, Hogs. It screwed up the team's heads enough that they got blown out by USC in the Liberty Bowl when 2 games before they were a legit contender for AP #1. Bah.

Although, there is still a difference. Iowa State was a 6-7 team while Auburn was ranked higher than Michigan at the end of the year.

1. Arkansas vs USC in 2005 or 2006. Yeah we got demolished, but I would have loved being at the Coliseum watching it go dead silent.

2. Arkansas vs Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl. That was just painful the way it ended.

3. Arkansas vs Texas in 1969. Perhaps our program would have been on a different track had we won that one.

4. Reggie Fish

5. Stoernover

For Bama, has to be SECG in 2008. If Alabama hangs on in the fourth quarter, no doubt they would have won the BCSNCG . This loss effectively kept Bama from going for Five in a row this year. If Bama wins in 2008 and 2009, USCe would have been too intimidated to do anything but shite the bed in 2010. No way auburn gets out of Bryant-Denny later with a BCSNCG on the line for Saban. And post-Tebow, the SECG is a foregone conclusion, so no doubt Bama and Saban would be writing even more history this January. Three out of four will still be great.

Runner up: 1975 orange Bowl ND won to deny the 74' MNC.

Also a fact that we had a better record than Michigan.

Hmm, I'd have to go with the 73 Sugar Bowl.

Great ballgame, even though we lost.

Tennessee losing to Florida in 95. Went undefeated the rest of thr way. Sad part Tommy Frazier of Nebraska would have owned us like he did the Gators in the championship game.
