Do away with permanent opponents in SEC and have rotating schedule of opponents in the other division

Two things. Make PI a spot foul again. It's only fair.
Second, change the damn OT rules. Starting the OT at the 25 is already in FG range for all but the worst kickers. The offense doesn't have to move an inch to have a decent chance at scoring, putting the defense at a large disadvantage. I'd start them at the 40 so it would take at least a first down to have a reasonable chance at scoring. It might cut down on the 57-56 5 OT games.

Yea I 2nd starting on the 40 in OT instead of the 25. I would also change the extra point, but not do away with it. I would back it up just like the pros

Thank god no one on tRant has input on rules. Except for changing targeting. That's a good suggestion.

Except for personal fouls, penalties are not automatic first downs. So if it's 3rd & 18, and the defense gets called for pass interference, it's now 3rd & 3.

Get rid of taunting penalties. Go back to 80's Miami in you face full dance routine celebrations.

allow forward passes on kick returns.
[LSU and AU would still be fricked]

I like that suggestion about only personal fouls are automatic first downs. Nothing I hate more than it being 3rd and a country mile and a DB gets called for holding on a 5 yard out route.

I've always thought one foot in bounds for both leagues.

Mark Curls permanently banned from all CFB officiating. ..
.I would make that rule

5 yard penalties should not completely off-set 15 yard penalties or multiple penalties

Add another week to the season and give everyone two bye weeks. These are student athletes, give them some opportunity to catch up with their studies and families. Give the communities another weekend to plan weddings, fairs, parties, etc. Also would add a ton of more options if a game has to be reschelduled (cough, LSU vs. Florida this year, cough, cough)
Would need a rule about not letting the teams have two bye weeks in a row. As a fan that would just piss me off.

no more field goals. it's just not (american) football for a kicker to be able to score 3 points whether from 1 yard out or from 70. kickoffs and punts are cool. field goals are stupid. points should be awarding from running or passing. you know, actual plays. it's hiked to a holder who then downs the ball for a kicker. the whole idea is dumb. same for kicked extra points.
if the yards for a penalty cannot be marked off because of proximity to the goal line, then either points are removed or added for the other team. half the distance and yet another down is beyond ignorant.
offsetting penalties. a 5 yard infraction offsetting a 15 yard personal foul ejection - again, mind-boggling stupidity.

cfb ot is the most exciting thing in all of sport except for the ncaa bball tourney. you take everything that's great about fb and condense it into a super intense situation. it's like icing on top of gravy on top of msg on top of crack cocaine.

Bring back the drop kick.
Erase the penalty on targeting calls that are overruled through instant replay.
Penalize bad officials who are overturned too many times during the course of a season.
Spot the ball on the 40 for OT.
Outlaw direct hits to the knees of offensive skill players just like they do chop blocks to defenders ... inside the 5 yard zone on each side of the line of scrimmage.
Expand the list of reviewable calls.
They are about to change the redshirt rule on their own.

PI is a spot foul...up until 15 yards. In fact, one of the reasons I don't like the PI rules in the NFL is that a receiver can basically get away with pushing off and get a 50+ yard gain.

Fumble into and out of end zone should allow the offense to keep the ball
This is the correct answer.

I would like to see some of the rules be like the NFL rules
Both feet has to be inbounds on the catch.
Clock doesn't stop after every first down.
these.
Plus, not down unless down by contact. High school and the pros can get up and run if not down by contact. Stupid that college is the only level that doesnt allow this.
Note: if high school has changed that rule since I was in high school over 25 years ago, I am unaware and a quick glance at the rule book for Georgia High Schools didnt produce anything to the contrary. High school could get up and run when I was in high school.

Late hits. Anything within a full second of the whistle being blown or one yard of the sideline, in or out, is legal.
Also, rules protecting the quarterback should be relaxed. If a defender can get to the quarterback he should have the right to break him in two. To offset that, the offense would have one designated player who is allowed to carry a metal billy club. Other than a shot to the groin, each team's clubman would be allowed to do whatever is necessary to protect his quarterback, including bribing other players and threatening opponents' non-playing family members.
