At this point I just hope we dont hire another coordinator to do some on the job learning. Thats the advantage that Mullen has over Muschamp. Mullen will have SEC head coaching experience for 6 years before coming to UF (in this hypothetical scenario which will not happen). That can not be understated. I dont care how good a coordinator has been their first head coaching gig should not be UF. At this point I would be cool with hiring whatever coach wins the FCS National Championship this year and hope he turns into our version of Jim Tressel.

Honestly, if I were UF, I'd love to have Freeze instead. He's far closer to the type of coaches that have had the most success at UF than Mullen, who is more like Bama coaches.

I don't know that Gator fans were particularly fond of Mullen when he was here, although it's apparent that he was the cog that drove that UF machine more so than Urbz. With WM's underwhelming offensive product over the last four years, they'd probably be glad to have him back.

It's comical that last season the rant was pretty close to unanimously declaring Mullen as an average coach at best. Now after one win vs LSU we have a thread praising him as a good coach.

There's a lot of season left. Will the opinion about him change after A&M comes in and spanks us next week? Lets not forget the stellar game management skills he showed last week in the 4th quarter.

Three losses with this team means he loses 3 out of 4 against remaining ranked teams on the schedule.
I dont think that's very impressive. Which of you dumb fux thinks you have overwhelmingly superior talent this year?

revisionist history. I don't remember anyone saying anything negative about Mullen while he was at Florida. The hate from the Florida fans came after he was hired away and the next season proved that State came in and stood the best coach on that team. No Florida fan wanted to admit that Mullen was the key to Florida's NC and overall success under CUM. Sorry but that's just the way it is. After the 2010 season every Georgia poster on this board had the biggest hard-on for Mullen and several threads were started after we destroyed Michigan calling for Mullen to replace Richt.

The answer to this question is "no". I had a beer with Jeremy Foley in Nashville the Friday before the Vandy game -- a few weeks before Urban quit. Foley said Mullen had made it clear to him that he wasn't going anywhere. Mullen was a preferable choice to Muschamp. Take it or leave it. I dont give a frick.

he pretty much alluded to the fact that the rotation thing was done after that 4 th quarter. I get why he did it, especially against the weaker teams. LSU was not a team to do that to. If the tables were turned which they usually were Les would have been throwing to the end zone with 10 minutes left and up by 50. Les has always been a douche when we play LSU. I don't know if there is bad blood or not from when Mullen was at Florida. But we are the only 2nd tier team he doesn't take his foot off the throttle for.

Yes state will be a top 25 spot as will everybody in the SEC outside Vandy and UK. However, it's highly likely the 4 below could match or raise any bid and their recruiting fertility alone is a reason to go. One of the four will grab Mullen. If he wins 9+.

Michigan, Florida, LSU, and Miami have a good chance to be open.

I have always thought if he left us for anyone it would be Michigan. The way we destroyed Michigan left a lasting impression on them. I just don't think he wants to compete against his friend Urban on a yearly basis. But the Michigan job will definitely be open. All in all I'm not much concerned about Mullen as I am keeping our DC here another year. I just don't think we have the stomach to match other schools if they want Collins bad enough.

I can't speak for all UF fans but IMO the answer is NO!. Contrary to rant belief, we don't want Mullen or Strong. Neither are well liked in Gainesville and would not have the support needed if (when) we do have to hire another coach next year. UF has the money to go after a top tier coach and I believe that they will do so. I the mean time I am still hoping that CWM will turn it around after this bye week and have a long career at UF. Go Gators

The knee jerk reactions to Mullen on this board are making me bipolar.

this is what's it's been like with Sumlin on here since mid 2012. Half the responses in Sumlin threads say he's headed to the Cowboys or 49ers and the other half ask who we will be hiring when we fire him

And to answer the questions about UF fans not liking him, perhaps some are turned off by the Scientology thing. Though if any SEC state would be completely down with that it would be Florida so who knows

And we never have and never will lose a head coach over money anyway.

That's a bullshite point because State has always been a coaching graveyard and fired every coach they've ever had other than Darrell Royal. Why was it he left State?
