Larry, Notre Dame is slowly heading toward full membership with the ACC. Also, patricide, yada yada.

I honestly think we could go independent like Notre Dame. We have just as much power play and tradition. The tv contract would be ridiculous. We also could make our own schedule and still keep Tenn and Auburn on the schedule.

I am sure none of Alabama's success has been because of the general strength of the league year in and year out while mostly performing well. I would love for Bama to go independent and be like Notre Dame counting cash but wins not so much. Of course, I understand the yen and the yang of the SEC and in the end realize it is a bad move for all interested including the Bam's

no you don't. have you ever been outside of the south?

maybe you could and maybe you couldn't. once outside of a conference you would find other powerful teams wouldn't schedule you and you'd be left with the cupcakes.

the future would suck for y'all. once saban steps down, dies or loses the fire in his belly, y'all would be a much weaker program again, just like you were before saban.

You're right we never won any games before Saban came here. Even though I seem to remember reading something like we've had 7 coaches have 10 win seasons. But don't let facts get in the way of your rambling.

lol Alabama would take the bigger hit than the SEC.

SEC's got a stable of blue chip teams of which Bama is arguably the bluest. But there aren't greener pastures for Bama.

I agree. Bama leaving the SEC is not a good idea.

From a football standpoint, it would certainly make the SEC more interesting. The overall quality would be more competitive year in and year out.
