No I don't, but Bama has historical value too dipshite. Bama has won at least one title in every decade since 1960 except one, the 80s, You do realize that don't you?

Huh? Of course I realize Bama's NC history, but why then wouldn't they have played in the most watched games in 2007? Or in the Dubose or Perkins years? Come on, USC has a rich tradition, but aren't sniffing those ratings at the moment. During the Reggie Bush years, they were must see games. Even with Bama's rich tradition, your school resides in a state that doesn't have the population of Atlanta. Take off the crimson glasses, senator

Exactly...if Bama left the SEC..who would watch them besides their opponents and Alabama residents? I watch them all the time now, but if they left the SEC, I wouldn't give two fricks about them.

yeah right. Fans from other conferences tune in when Bama is playing because we are important. We are like the Duke of college football.

I have to agree. The truth of Alabama becoming a third tier program hoping to catch onto the Big 12 or the ACC is a bitter pill to swallow for Tide fans.

They'd be replaced over night with another program and likely go through what other programs that left their conferences went through, being unofficially blackballed for a decade or so.

Oh it wouldn't hurt that first year or two. Then no more TSIO, no more Iron Bowl, no more SEC money... Suddenly Bama is a lot like Notre Dame, only with their historical rivals giving them the cold shoulder.

To get into the good bowl games you have to suck up to an also ran and be a "semi" conference member like Notre Dame is doing in football. The fertile recruiting grounds you've harvested for decades start to dry up.

Maybe, just maybe, if the football gods are feeling vengeful, 15 years down the line UAB uses their influence to get a faltering Alabama program shut down. As a mercy killing.

WGAS? Do it, but you know you won't. You benefit from the SEC more than the SEC benefits from UAT. You obviously do not understand how the conference functions.
But blow hard anyway
Finebaum would suffer more than anyone

You can't be that dense. Because of Bama's recent success and Miss St hasn't had that. Do you honestly believe Alabama was in 5 of the top 10 games back in 2007? American Idol used to be get insane ratings...

And how many people watched ND when they sucked? Texas didn't even make the top ten.

The sad thing here is that all the bama posters actually believe this shite. But on a more serious note, the rest of the SEC would immediately vote to get the league office out of B.Ham, resulting in all new better league refs & a lot fairer league schedule. And the OP would end up back in his little sandbox as he would no longer have anyone to play with here.

Even when Notre Dame sucks, they still pull in a national audience. NBC wouldn't keep renewing their contract if the Irish didn't generate viewers. Notre Dame will have millions of viewers when they play a terrible Purdue team or some other shite bag team. Alabama nor any other team can do that.

That same argument can be made about ND. Do you think they were getting a ton of viewership when they were sucking it up? Just because NBC made a horrible deal with them doesn't mean that people are actually watching them play, even when they suck.

I honestly think we could go independent like Notre Dame. We have just as much power play and tradition. The tv contract would be ridiculous. We also could make our own schedule and still keep Tenn and Auburn on the schedule.

What you want to hear: the SEC is screwed without Alabama.

The Truth: The SEC would continue to thrive.
