You missed the point entirely. No surprise though. It's about understanding what came before you. I'm sure young Sam doesn't even know who Paul Ditzel is. Youth today have a severe lack of historical knowledge. I'm not even talking about sports at this point. A basic understanding of American history is non-existent for most people.

That's right. I guarantee you that there are a bunch of players on the Alabama team that did not know who Bear Bryant was until they got to Bama.

I don't doubt the guys from out-of-state don't. But Sam Montgomery has been at LSU for over 2 years now. Surely he would have picked up on it by now. And if I'm not mistaken, he visited Alabama during the recruiting process. Every visitor gets a tour of the Paul Bryant Museum. I mean Hell, the stadium and street names should give some people a clue.

Exactly.

Not everyone is a hardcore SEC football fan. The guy happens to be good enough to play at LSU, that doesn't mean he has to know all the bammers history.

It's not just Alabama's history. Bryant is one of the greatest coaches in the history of the game. He defined a era of college football. I think any player or fan in the SEC should take the time to have some knowledge of SEC icons.

Just because you worship Bear Bryant doesn't mean everyone else should. Some of these kids don't follow sports, they play sports. And did it ever cross your mind that when Sam was on his Bama visit and toured the Museum, he didn't give enough of a shite to pay attention.

Just furthers my point about kids not taking the time to grasp a little knowledge of history, of any kind. This really isn't even an argument about Alabama at this point. I just think it's sad that people don't care about history, even their own. And I'm not trying to pick on Sam Montgomery here. He sounds like a very intelligent person. It's just a sore subject for me.

Your mistaken. Bama wasn't even listed as a school of interest.

He's just upset that Sam doesn't even know his own history that somehow Bear Bryant was a part of.

Now you're just trying to turn it into a Alabama/LSU pissing match. You fail to, or don't want to, see my point.

One thing is for sure, Bryant will talked about and remembered long after this kid is forgotten.
