If anything, this forum has taught me that ignorance among nineteen-year-old college students is far from uncommon.

This thread had me rolling. All the gumps who resort to calling Sam an idiot because he disgraced their 30 years dead precious gem. I'm sure most players these days are not football historians. You guys really do idolize the man don't you?

Sam is known to be a master of mind frick. I wonder if he actually does know who Steve Bryant is, and he is just being Sam.

If Les Miles can run the table, maybe he can win the Paul W Bryant Coach of the Year award...

which is of corse, named after a current Alabama player

just like Nick Saban did at LSU in 2003

guess he doesn't know much about LSU history either

Everyone who has some kind of interest in college football should know who Bear Bryant is.

He also said that LSU and Bama were rivals in the interview, so that's strike two.[/quote

Sam is 19 years old.....a coach that died 30 years ago just isn't a big deal to young kids these days...

I know for a fact that Nick Saban went to Sam's HS one day to seem him play basketball...

LES was there as was 2 other HCs, and Butch Davis...Heard the story directly from Butch Davis

Apparently Nick didn't get to talk to Sam...but he was recruited by Alabama, no question about that...

Forget Bryant and Bama. What if he didn't know who Vince Lombardi or Don Shula were? He would be just as stupid. That's how stupid he is for not knowing who Bryant was.

Bear Bryant is not Lombardi. Do you think if you went to a random high school in California and asked a senior football player who the Bear was, he would know? (Hint: he wouldn't)

Somebody should tell him Bear is the reason his teams record vs Bama sucks.

That's the main point. If he was from Alabama rather than South Carolina, he'd know who Bryant was. South Carolina wasn't even in the SEC when the Bear was alive. Bama's tradition isn't dinner table conversation in S.C. like it is here in Alabama.

True but what is Bama's record against Sam's coach? That may be more relevant.

This is normal. A 22 year old kid that works where I work doesn't know who John Lennon is. He's a normal, middle-class white kid. It doesn't mean he is stupid because he's never heard of John Lennon.
