How so? Because park made this statement?

A&M would never win the South

Go ahead and poll the other fan bases (other than aTm fans of course) on this site and ask them based on the OP's divisions if they think aTm would ever win the south.

That would make it a little better. I believe Tennessee is the only north school to have won a title since they switched to a channpionship. And that south division has won every Sec title going back to Tennessees last one in 98 I think? That's crazy

The whole point is to get rid of permanent opponents. Splitting up the Alabama schools doesn't help

Easy solution is to get rid of them, and Bama-Tennessee, AU-Georgia schedule each other in a non-conference game in the years they roll off the schedule.

That's the best proposal I've heard on this....makes a lot of sense to me. Mizzou used to have a non-conference game with ku in baseball each year at Kauffman. A bit unorthodox but it would work.

lol 5 of the big 6 in the south, and the only one in the north being the current perpetual dumpster fire.

I wish the standard schedule would get to 10 good games, with only two cupcakes instead of 3. With this format (and from a Bama perspective): When Tennessee rolls on the schedule, Bama should play 2 legit non-conference opponents. When Tennessee rolls off, we should play Tennessee (non-conference style) plus one other team from one of the big 5 conferences. Seems to me like too simple of a plan, and would solve several problems.

Get rid of absolute geographical lines of demarcation.
Split the states with two teams in half (MS, AL, TN)--3 in one division and 3 in the other.
Divide the remaining teams, such that each division has 2 "western" teams and two "eastern" teams.

I think we'll be better this year than people think. We won't win the conference or anything, but I think we will keep it close in most games.

I do think it would be good to get rid of the perm opponent, save the DSOR and the FSIO.

None of the other schools even care that much so let them rotate around while these two continue.

Problem with sticking with an 8 game schedule and keeping these 2 permanent is Bama, AU, UGA, and Tenn's infrequent games against the other cross-division team. Sans SEC Championship, Bama would play home/away with UGA/Florida, etc., then not see them again for 12 years. Long time to not see a conference opponent. 3 generations worth of graduates. Doesn't seem to bother some fans, but I think it's a huge deal.
