McCarron is a big question mark. Just repeating the company line ("but McElroy won one in his first year as a starter") is meaningless. Two different guys, two different teams.

But some of this shite is laughable. Its all to do with Saban and not our talent? LOL. We are stacked. Loaded. Etc.

McElroy, Newton, and Thomas were all first year starters when they played in the national title game

McElroy and Newton won the title too

Well many Bammers felt they had the best team in 2010, especially how they played against MSU in the bowl... Heard McElroy and others say they were only 4 points from a championship (losses to LSU and Auburn), not sure why they do not include the USCe game.

Because had they beat LSU and Auburn they would have played for the SECC?

isnt McCarron a RS Freshman?

No, he redshirted in 2009. He had mop-up duty last year, played in 6 games.

LSU probably doesn't get much respect because everyone already knows Jordan Jefferson - depending on the day - is somewhere between suck and average.

Preseason polls are stupid.

But, Bama looks as good on paper as anyone in the nation.

Check out our roster, our coaching staff, and our schedule for next year and then get back to us.

Look I called Murray as stud. I told people he would be Drew Breeze like, but more mobile.

McCarron is the third best QB in his class behind Barkley and Murray. Don't really care if rivals has him ranked 7th. They have Tahj Boyd ranked ahead of him so thats all you need to know.

McCarron has one of the quickest releases of any QB college or pro. His arm is similar to the Missouri QB. Its not Stafford like, but is pretty strong and his release is quick so the ball gets there in a hurry.

McElwain is the 2nd best QB coach in the SEC behind Petrino. Look at what he has gotten out of JPW and McElroy who really sucked. He got the Fresno state qb to the NFL.

Bama's offense will be top 3 in the SEC next year with a top 5 national defense. Easy schedule by SEC standards. All that pretty much ensures a SEC Championship and lately that also mean MNC.

McCarron has a lot of potential. He's kind of a gun slinger, but that's something that McElwain and Saban will have no part of. I'll wait until he proves it on the field before I say he's worth a shite.

That actually makes sense. If LSU would be losing the players Bama is losing we would be number 15

LSU lost their best player at all three levels of their defense. Alabama's defense was #7 in total defense nationally, and top's in the league, and returns 10 starters. Offensively we won't miss a beat at RB with Richardson stepping in to the primary roll. The offensive line, which returns 4 starters, was disappointing last year mainly because of injuries. They only played three games together as a unit, the first two and the bowl game, and therefore never got to gel. Sure we're breaking in a new QB, but he's been in the system for two years now and last time we did that we won a NC. Of course LSU will either be breaking in a new QB and a new system, or will keep JJ and try to teach him a new system (lulz).

I think McElwain has proven he knows how to coach QBs and McCarron is the most talented one he has coached and he seems real confident and excited to coach him. He is a 1st RD pick in two years no lie.

I can see it. Kid has a lot of upside. Reminds me of a taller Rex Grossman.

Causal fans of other teams keep saying "Bama is losing a lot" because they see some of the spotlight guys leaving.

Those that follow the team know that we're returning a LOT of starters next year. We won't have Julio Jones or Mark Ingram, but we have plenty of young, highly rated receivers competing for Julio's spot, and we still have Richardson and Lacy at RB.

McCarron is a question mark, but who thinks he's not capable of doing what McElroy did in 09? You guys talked about how untalented he was and all the did was hand off to the RB's and throw short passes, right? Guess what, like 09, we have a veteran o-line returning, and some great RB's.

And the defense should be absolutely dominant.

They're saying the same thing about LSU's defense. What some don't seem to get is that 'Bama and LSU played a lot of great freshmen this past season who are ready to be #1's. The west will come down to November 5th in Tuscaloosa IMO.

Pretty simple...when $aban comes down from the mountaintop in T-town, stands before the masses, waves his arms & starts speaking in strange tones about things like "process" and "focus" and other-worldly topics, there can't help but be that kind of reaction.

No matter who his starting QB is.

He has been compared to Matt Ryan before. At the elite 11 when he came out of high school. His frame and demeanor are much like Ryan's, but his arm is similar Rodgers. I wasn't playing. Dudes a baller.
