Since the SEC has won the last 5 BCSNCG's in a row, as a pollster you pretty much have to assume that whomever wins the SEC will win the BCS.

With that as a starting point, this year's popular choice for SEC preseason favorites this year are Bama and LSU, pretty much a coin flip from where I sit, and likely the same way for many pollsters.

I don't see how any preseason poll makes any sense during the month of January. What else makes so sense to me are fans worrying about them.

If LSU would be losing the players Bama is losing we would be number 15

so you admit Julio, Marcel and Ingram > Peterson, Shepard and Nevis Because that is all we lose outside of McElroy who didnt make mistakes but he didnt challenge defenses either. LSU did not have to game plan for him.

These two teams are about as identical as one can get. We both return 4/5 OL and both secxond strings have plenty of playing time. I think Alabama has a little better rb situation but not a much better if any. Our secondaries and front seven are about the same and to this point LSu has had very inconsistant qb play from a three yr starter and we dont know what McCarron can do for sure. This may be as close a game as last yr except better executed by both teams.

Defense wins Titles. Saban and Bama will have a very good defense. LSU should be solid on defense as well. Both teams have questions at QB. I would not have LSU or Bama at the top . Both should be in the top 10 to 12. Way too early to try and figure this out. We will have a good picture after the first three to four games next year.

He was the 3rd best QB out of that class behind Barkley and Murray. He will be better the Jefferson or Mett that is for sure.

greg mcelroy was a first year starter, and took alabama to the national championship. aj will be fine, the defense has to improve over last year to make the biggest stride..

Well many Bammers felt they had the best team in 2010, especially how they played against MSU in the bowl... Heard McElroy and others say they were only 4 points from a championship (losses to LSU and Auburn), not sure why they do not include the USCe game.

Shouldn't even have a poll till the 4 game is played & the cream will start to rise to the top.

What you said....I might even go as high as week 6.

Same reason Florida was ranked #3 preseason last year after losing Tebow, Spikes, Cunningham, and Hernandez.

Bama loses their QB, best RB, best receiver, but it won't matter people. They have Saban, and Mcarron.

No one knows if AJ is an "SEC caliber QB". But what is SEC caliber anymore? Was it Cam? Was it Mallett? Is it Jefferson? Who the hell is an "SEC caliber QB"?

I heard McCarron will remind you of a cross between Johnny Unitas and the quarterback from the movie Any Given Sunday.
