Hahahaha LSU has the most original colors in the NCAA. Purple and Gold looks awesome on regalia of all kinds, academic and athletic. It's better than the dried up used tampon colors of the Aggies.

LSU actually pulls off the purple/gold in a classic fashion (ECU, not so much).

Since UF has a little green (gator) in the scheme I would like to see them roll out a green version of the uni.

yes, very good post.

Something I learned in this thread. Very interesting. I am sure every school has a reason they use their colors. LSU ties directly to the culture.

I might be a bad Ag for saying this, but I wouldn't be that against changing our color scheme to something unique. Will never happen, though. We're the university that refused to drop the "A&M" and replace it with "State".

A ton of schools have state in their name. When I hear A&M I only think of one school. Texas A&M. That in itself is unique.

Did A&M "refuse" this before Texas State in San Marcos was founded?

ETA: LSU is Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, FWIW

"Texas State" was called "Southwest Texas University" until 2003.

A&M actively refused to add "state" back in the 70's.

Orange is a terrible color for clothes of any kind. The "All Auburn, All Orange" campaign was the worst thing that ever happened to college affiliated clothing. Props to those of you who didn't cave and held on to your stately navy blue shirts.

Probably Miss State....

I don't think there's anything wrong with their colors per se, but I think they're "look" gets lost in the shuffle of all the other red teams in the conference

Maybe add some silver?

Their isn't a school with the color green.

It is the official color of AU recruiting, if that counts.

While I love USC's color combo, as it matches the mascot, if we were to change colors at all, it should be to navy and white - to match the state flag. Add a little battle grey and black just to distinguish USC from UK, and we'd be in bidness.

That black does nothing for UK IMO.
