All the people saying LSU have horribly boring colors.

But UT or one of the shades of red teams

really, those teams are the reason I started the thread. Pure coincidence that there is that many of such a similar color no doubt. Just hard to look past it.

I don't know a person alive that thinks maroon is a banging color.

Would never change our colors or unis, but if we were forced to, it would easily be black & silver... Basically knock of Raiders unis with numbers on the helmet instead of the raiders logo

Im not saying it is or isn't gold or yellow.

But I always thought Saints gold was gold.

And then they call the Steelers the black and gold. Always pist me off. For sure that is yellow IMO. But with that logic, LSU would be Purple and Yellow. Yet its known as purple and gold which is fine by me.
The "Official" school colors are Royal Purple and Old Gold, but the LSU athletic teams use the "Canary Yellow" shade of Gold.

The Canary Yellow color comes from the Mardi Gras colors from which LSU originally wore at the first LSU vs Tulane game. Tulane bought all the Green ribbon to adorn their Gray uniforms and LSU used what was left, which was the Purple and Gold (Canary Yellow) ribbon.

LSU and UT are the only ones that should NEVER change as both are instantly recognizable worldwide. UT even has its own color orange on the Pantone color scale and contrary to the partially colorblind assertions, it ain't neon. Also, both LSU's colors and UT's have a direct relationship to either the school and/or culture. They were selected for very specific reasons.

I'd also say Bammer lands on the never change list due to both tradition and the helmet. They also chose true crimson which has a slick purple tint. Few teams understand true crimson has that purple tint let alone use it but BAMA is one.

LSU, UT, and BAMA would have to be insane to change their colors regardless of opposing schools developing a distaste.

The rest could change for all I care due mainly to similarities within the conference and just not being all that unique around the NCAA but I'd never want fans from any team to give up their colors because of that. Even if it's the same or indistinguishable from others that should their choice.

My dad told me lsu took first pick on the left over mardi gras ribbons. Then Tulane took the green. Doesn't really matter. Fact is it is tied to the culture which means something to us.
