LSU's frilly colors are more suited for having high tea than a gridiron clash. Very unfortunate for them.

Kentucky fans are the only ones who can channel Tobias Funke before their games and say,
Well...technically, Florida can too...and they can pull off the Jorts as well.

I agree with that.

Perhaps. But I like LSU's color scheme as it is. Whether you want to call it purple and yellow, LSU's colors are different and no change is needed. I'd prefer the current purple/yellow scheme more than a purple/traditional gold.

It's nice to see them mix it up on occasion.
Nothing wrong with it how it is. Really I could go either way, not like it matters. We know no school will change its colors.

Probably not. And I probably like it more because that's just how accustomed I am to seeing the purple/yellow combo. It doesn't need to change.

Living in Louisiana, no question you get use to seeing purple or yellow and automatically think LSU.
The combo is synonymous.

Hypothetical: What SEC school should change their school colors?

WT everloving F does that even mean. Is that what George Mason fans do on Saturday afternoon, drink tea?
May be the single most idiodic, non-sensical post ever.
Once again, purple and yellow are complementary, that is - they mesh together like orange/blue and red/green.
And there are only 3 other sports teams I can think of that have this scheme: The Minnesota Vikings, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Washington Huskies.
So Royal Purple and Old Gold - LSU's official colors, are actually very unique and very regal.
WTF are George Mason's colors? Pink and Plaid?

Also, for LSU fans:
I've heard green wasn't used because Tulane had already taken it. Also, that the ribbons were literally stapled or pinned on jerseys. It's 100+ years ago, who knows.

There is some discrepancy in the origin of Royal Purple and Old Gold as LSU's official colors. Below is the most widely accepted scenario: It is believed that the colors were worn for the first time by an LSU team in the spring of 1893 when the LSU baseball squad beat Tulane in the first intercollegiate contest played in any sport by Louisiana State University. Team captain E.B. Young reportedly handpicked those colors for the LSU squad. Later that year, the first football game was played. On Nov. 25, 1893, football coach/chemistry professor Charles Coates and some of his players went into town to purchase ribbon to adorn their gray jerseys as they prepared to play the first LSU gridiron game. Stores were stocking ribbons in the colors of Mardi Gras -- purple, gold and green. -- for the coming Carnival season. However, none of the green had yet arrived at Reymond's Store at the corner of Third and Main streets. Coates and quarterback Ruffin Pleasant bought up all of the purple and gold stock and made it into rosettes and badges.

I like the shiny new Nike uni's (I thought the Oregon uniforms for Wisconsin Rose bowl was really sharp, especially the helmets). But man, LSU should never, ever change colors for this. Should be a law.

1) Alabama - completely homeristic choice, plus original SEC member and historically most successful SEC football program.
Plus Bama's nickname has a shade of red in it. It wouldn't sound right if we were green, but called the Crimson Tide.
Also, LSU should wear their Purple jerseys more often. I think they look better than their white ones.
On a side note, more away teams should wear their "colored" jerseys. The rules have now been changed to allow this to happen.

My initial thought is LSU because their colors are just ugly, but they carry a cultural significance. Everyone else is fine. For the rest of college football, I'd say Wyoming...just awful.
Don't say that about LSU. I love their uniforms, and they one of the few that I like their away uniforms(that they wear most of the time) and their home uniforms(the purple with gold).

We need to get rid of orange.

Vandy could do a lot with their gold and black. I just don't know why they don't

Mississippi State should change their colors to brown...at least their pants.
