I see why everyone wants Tua. Has he overcome his language barrier yet?

Tua is the better passer, but Hurts did have about 4 or 5 dropped passes last night.

He has been unimpressive a lot yet he has only lost one game as a starter.

If you can stop Bama from running the ball and put a spy on Hurts, they will have a really hard time moving the ball with Hurts. The issue is that most teams don't have the athletes to shut down Bama's run game.

With the team around him & his HC, I would think a lot of QBs could match that.

I was at the game. He did a nice job breaking out of sacks and converting a few 1st downs with his legs. His deficiencies in the passing game stand out.

Do not ignore in victory what you wouldn't ignore in defeat.

The kids a solid passer and getting better. He had that perfect 50yd strike to Foster and Foster dropped a couple more. He makes good decisions and takes care of the ball. I'm pretty satisfied.

Hurts is not an elite passer, period. But he's not as bad as it's made out, because he's in the spotlight on a team where the third stringers are 4 and 5 stars. And he's starting because he compliments his passing game not only with the obvious running ability, but with a poise and confidence and leadership that is remarkable for his age.

I won't be shocked if Tua becomes the starter some time before the first game of next season. I am extremely impressed with what I've seen from him so far, and with the talent we now have at WR you want to maximize it. But there are many, many people out there who underestimate what Hurts brings to the table when looking at the whole package.

5000+yds 48TDs and 9ints and I don't think he's 20 yet.

Here is my take with Hurts:

The conservative Bama offense hurts him. I think he needs more attempts downfield during a game. He tossed a beauty that would have been a TD but for the PI. The potential is there, and more importantly he is careful with the rock.

His running is a shining point for him, but there are better defenses out there than ours that I think Bama runs the risk of stalling out against unless Hurts is allowed to keep a defense more honest.

Also, from last night, that O Line has A LOT of work to to in order to be considered ELITE. Take away that 75 yard run by Harris and A&M actually outgains Alabama, which under any metric this year shouldn't happen.

I wouldn't either, but the way Saban operates, we will likely get beat or almost lose a game or two before this happens. I would love to see Tua get a couple of series a game. I have yet to see an intelligent reason as to why it's a bad idea. Talking heads blabbering about using 2 QBs being bad isn't an intelligent reason. Knee-jerk reactions about the wishbone being different isn't an intelligent reason. Tua could play a meaningful series or two in every game without it jeopardizing a win. When that never happens, that's how you end up with an AJ McCarron with a deer-in-the-headlights look in the last series of the Iron Bowl. We have strong enough leadership on this team to handle it, and Hurts is certainly mature enough to handle Tua getting a series in the first half.

Tua is very talented, works hard, and brings a skill set that Jalen has yet to exhibit. I don't want the first meaningful series of his career to be in the 4th quarter of a championship game.
