We're not atrocious but being this one-dimesnsional is really concerning - especially when we see what a team like Texas A&M can do to us. They came within striking distance late because our offense completely sputtered in the second half after Chavis adjusted.

I'm not jumping for joy over the offensive performance last night but I think that we scored to start the 2nd half, got a stop and kind of mentally went on cruise control. It sort of almost cost us (but not really), and we never really got back in a sync.

It just seems silly to me to totally jump into the deep end of negativity because maybe we won't be able to move the ball as well against good defenses later in the year. I mean, maybe we won't, but maybe they won't either (actually, I think they probably won't). We might have to win ugly. We might lose ugly. Who knows. Doesn't make much sense to freak out about it until it actually happens. All of the teams in the Top 10 have flaws that we (Alabama) can exploit. We also have some flaws. It will be an exciting finish to the season.

Robert Fosters fumble really threw a funk into everything. I thought Alabama was going to nail the game shut that drive.

Honestly I wouldn't be bitching about all of this (it's not my style) if I didn't see a world-beater in Tua sitting on the bench. I more or less had your attitude last season - Jalen's the best we've got so just roll with it. I guess my main issue is personnel decisions which I've had many many disagreements with Saban on.

For example, I pointed out we needed a better PR. Well now we have one because Diggs got hurt, but he'd still be out there if it were up to Saban.
Saban is the GOAT, but he makes really conservative choices on the depth chart and is many times soft about benching a "good team guy" if he thinks we can win without doing it.

If this were a video game where there weren't locker rooms and human emotions and freshmen learning curves I'd be all for giving Tua some series in big games and maybe giving him a chance. I just don't think that's something Saban can do at this point unless Jalen melts down.

I would like to see Tua get some snaps in the 1st half this weekend against Arkansas with the game still relatively in check solely to see him in a more live bullets scenario and get him more experience.

Alright I'm out for the evening. You are a good man uofarolltide, and I know where you are coming from, but just lower the hyperbole just a bit. That's all I'm askin'. Hopefully everything works out.

All of our WRs right now will play on Sundays, including Foster. Big, 4.3 receivers don't typically go undrafted.

For the last time he doesn’t run a 4.3 the best he has done is a 4.47. Stop making him sound better than he is.

Not so fun filled fact... we've dropped about 20 spots in 3rd down conversion % from last season. 36th to 53rd

It's going to kill us against a good team. We're good enough to beat anybody, but we're bad enough to get beaten by a few teams.

If you can stop Bama from running the ball and put a spy on Hurts, they will have a really hard time moving the ball with Hurts. The issue is that most teams don't have the athletes to shut down Bama's run game.

I haven't seen a team yet that can shut down Bama's offense, and I'm sure everyone thinks the way you do, coach. Hurts adds another dimension to the offense. His run against A&M where he cut back into the field to gain 20 more yards ought to be proof of his superior athleticism.

You do realize every team he faces has tried that, right?

Hurts had a bad game, i don't want Tua to start this year - he is a true freshman and that isn't an ideal situation unless it is unavoidable. Hopefully he gets game experience in blowouts and such, maybe a series or two later in the season, and we will deal with the qb controversy in the offseason.

There is just too much unknown about Tua and Hurts is an incredible runner, which has been a major part of the offense. IF Hurts can continue to work, maybe improve on the mid-range crossing type throws when he is on the move, he will be absolutely deadly.

I don't get it. Why did he have a bad game? Had the A&M player not grabbed Foster's hand , we would have had another touchdown and would have cruised to an easy victory. (That pass was perfect btw)The gme was never really in doubt and it was the special teams and Foster's fumble that lead to A&M's scores. (Brilliant throws by A&M's QB also helped)

The whole offense, outside of the running backs, had a bad game. Oline wasn't handling their own and got whipped in the second half, WRs had drops and trouble blocking, Hurts missed on multiple throws, was tucking and running a bit too quickly and it seemed like he got happy feet. Regardless of the final score, it just wasn't their best job and the defense helped them out a lot as they usually do.

Hurts just missed on some throws - the deep bomb down the sideline and the crossing route Ridley had to dive for instead of catch and run come to mind. He also was quick to try and scramble and run, abandoning the pocket.

That was probably partially due to the oline having a bad game; however, I could also make the argument that if Hurts had stayed in and hit more of his throws then we could have worked the mid range / quick passes and gotten the A&M d to soften up a bit.

Are you saying you think Hurts had a good game?

ETA: Not that it matters (it shouldn't but it does to some people). I don't want Tua to start, I really like Hurts because although he is an average passer, I think he is improving in that regard and he is an exceptional runner.

I sometimes wonder what it is like to be a bama fan. Complaining after a win on the road in a tough environment against a team that has quietly improved since the UCLA game .

Yall were due for somewhat of a let down after the last two weeks. It is hard to stay up for every game even a Saban coached team is going to have those games.

Complaining about the first turnover since last season and a QB who has been pretty good with his only loss being to a team that was led by a 1st rounder in the NC. And that was after Hurts drove his team down in the 4th quarter and took the lead.

Gosh, I can't imagine what it would be like here if Saban weren't your coach and yall were regularly only winning 9-10 games a year with the occasional NC caliber team.

Anyone questioning Saban after the run he has been on is pretty hysterical.

He can't give Tua time on the field. It would create problems where right now there are none.

Just sayin'...

I agree. If we don't replace him soon we might as well write this season off as a rebuilding year

I like Hurts, he's a great kid with a huge competitive spirit, however, Bama will never win a NC with him at qb. I'm trying to be optimistic, but after 20 games, not much has changed.
