Has there been some secret meeting of Bama fans where they discuss how the HUNH won't work more than once against them? And if they keep repeating that ad nauseum, like some sort of incantation, it will be true?

Just changed the agenda. It was never supposed to work, now it's a one hit wonder.

They suffer from the syndrome of thinking their opinion on X's and O's means something because they have the best coach in football.

Most Bama fans don't know jack shite about it and this thread is a good example.

It seems that the HUNH and Spread is a good offensive scheme the first year in the SEC.

See: TAMU last year and AU 2010

Yet, the following year the coaching talent figures out how to stop them successfully and it's a tenuous season thereafter.

Are there teams that have been successful in consecutive years with this offense in the SEC?

Of course, with the right QB there have been good squads, no argument.

(Boise St. comes to mind, but not an SEC squad)

We have not stopped TAMU yet

High school offense, smoke and mirrors, trickery, "you do this when you have inferior talent".....

My favorite talking point right now is the "recruits won't go to Auburn, particularly OLinemen, because the offense AU runs won't prepare them for the NFL"

While I do not think the HUNH/Spread is going anywhere, there is a common thread among all those winning teams: The quarterback.

Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, and Johnny Manziel all have Heisman trophies for a reason. The offensive scheme helped them numbers wise, but they were all very unique athletes.

Auburn did well this year because of a running back and a QB that didn't have to do too much, and they nearly lost 3 instead of 1.

The key to really beating the HUNH/Spread: Put the QB down.

Isn't that the key for stopping any offense? Wow. Listen to yourselves.

Gumps are really scared and grasping at straws everywhere.

Course, AtM did only put up 600+ yards and 40 points after Saban prepared for them for a year.

Yes, the read option runs itself, Gus could have put a football playing ferret back there and been just as successful.

TiM, Saban allowed TAMU to do that, just like he allowed Chris Davis to run a missed field goal back 109 yards for a TD. It's all part of his master plan.

I think Kirby Smart's stock is dropping because of bama's abilities against the HUNH. Schools will start copying what Gus is doing and those schools that have openings will evaluate bama's performace against it. I believe he waited one year too long to get a HC job.
