This is a sentiment on some Vol boards and it's one I agree with completely, so I thought I would start a thread about it here.

While it's too early in Dooley's tenure for any game to be considered a must win game, the upcoming Georgia game is still a very big game for him. While Georgia is on a 3 game winning streak, they haven't looked great this season. This year, Georgia is returning to Knoxville where they suffered beatings their previous two trips.

The reason this game is so big is because this is one of Tennessee's games where they aren't big favorites but the game is still winnable. A loss would likely mean another 6-6 season and 2-6 in the SEC. A win would show progress and give more reason for optimism going forward. I think this game will tell me a lot about the coach we have.

Any thoughts?

I have to go with Georgia in this one, but it will be a very good football game.

Losing Justin Hunter will show up big time this game.

If we go 6-6 then Dooley will HAVE to win 9 games next year to keep his job imo.

Fixed. I don't trust the fan base enough to say he will have to.

I thought the East would be determined by the SC-UF game, but considering how terrible Garcia is, I really think it comes down to this Saturday.

Which game are you talking about?

I don't think Tennessee has much of a chance at the East.

Hoping for Tennessee to beat UGA this week. UGA's schedule is easy as hell, aside from Tennessee, Florida, and the rivalry game with GT.

As UF will probably lose to LSU, and maybe Auburn as well, UGA will have to lose at least 1 for UF to control its destiny to get to ATL. Tennessee plays Bama and LSU later in the season, so they will probably have multiple SEC losses as well.

And USCe will probably implode just because they have Garcia as a QB

If we win this game I think we could be considered favorites to take the east. Garcia is turrble and Brantley is hurt with the high ankle sprain. We shall see though...

Who is the favorite if Tennessee wins? I can't see UT beating LSU, Bama, or Arkansas, and UT will be so beaten down by LSU and Bama that I think they'll have a lot of problems with South Carolina.

I agree, this one is huge for Dooley & CMR.

Dawgs D is getting better each week but haven't faced much of a passing threat since Boise so it will be interesting to see how well Bray does.

Grantham's D has been shutting down the run (outside of Lattimore). The offense, however has still struggled for consistency.

Crowell is a special freshman with breakaway speed but as is true with all UGA offensive weapons, is underutilized by Bobo & co. Murray has been throwing too many picks and Walsh missing too many kicks, if that doesn't change and/or Bray lights up the D may be a long night for the Dawgs in Knoxvegas.

Haven't the last 2 games for UGA in Knoxville been Tennessee blowout victories? I don't remember for sure.

hard one to pick imo. I'd have to give the edge to UT though. Night game in the Smokey Mountains, Neyland should be rocking. I compare this game to the likes of watching bum fights. Two participants not knowing how to put shite together yet still fun to watch.

Yeah. They haven't crossed our 35 yard line in Knoxville offensively since 07.
