I don't care what you think it proves. What it shows is all of the evidence available supports me and none of it supports you which is what I said all along. If you had real evidence to the contrary you would have posted it. You don't. Get over it.
Les Miles > Bret Bielma
-Jeff Long
He even would have paid him more.

But that source is different than the source in ricks link because it fits his narrative.

hawgfaninc makes up stories from whole cloth to "fit his narrative."

Arkansas does not offer contracts to coaches. they are termed something else.
There is no mention of the Foundation, that is the real source of the coaches payments and who they are employed by (it could have changed though)
Woody Bassett would never allow a leak to happen if it was a true offer.

So we beat you 17-0 with less talent AND a worst coach?
Damn that must be depressing for lsu fans to think about

Meh.
I think he loves it there. He's embraced the university/state, and they've embraced him right back. Seems like a pretty genuine guy. And the SEC is the SEC. Unless Texas comes calling, I think he'll be in Fayetteville for a little while, assuming his teams perform.

Eh, it happens. One game doesn't necessarily mean a whole bunch.
Miles certainly has a better résumé than Bret, at this point. He's been more successful in a better league.
However, I'd love to have either as my head coach. I think Bert is great.

Jeff Long helped his buddy Les Miles get a raise and in-turn had a rival lock up a coach that he thinks we can beat.
Long did not want Les and made a better hire.

Let us be honest here. What we are looking at are three options as far Bielema leaving.
1. The rebuilding goes awry and Bert shites the bed. Arkansas fires him and Auburn backs up a Brink's truck to keep Malzahn there.
2.An NFL team comes calling. Auburn still backs up the money truck but Arkansas looks for an up and comer.
3. Iowa gathers together whatever they can find and dangles a carrot Bert can't resisit. Coaching at his alma mater is too much for him and he jumps ship. Everyone in the SEC, except for poor Vandy, puts a few extra hundred thousand on their coach's salary and Arkansas picks up someone with some history of doing well.

It's widely publicized how suffocating Barry Alvarez has been at the AD position since retiring as the head man. Bielema's accomplishments at UW in 7 years are on par with what Barry did in 16, yet he was handcuffed by Alvarez and wanted out.
Publicized based on what fact? There is none.

Further proof, Gary Anderson jumped ship after just one year to Oregon State
Gary Andersen was there for two seasons and publically stated that admissions was the main reason for his departure.
LINK
Admissions reared its ugly head again as Jordan Stevenson recently made headlines after being denied admissions at Wisconsin and ended up at Nebraska.
In any case, I like this quote:
quote:
Adapting the program to fit a new coach instead of finding a coach that fits Wisconsin would be a mistake. In a college football landscape where too many programs lack self-awareness, Wisconsin knows what Wisconsin is. It's a second-tier program that will always be in the mix for conference titles and maybe someday will catch lightning in a bottle and be in the mix for a national championship.
Wisconsin is not in position to hire coaches that will flip the script at this juncture.
That's what Gary Andersen attempted to do trying to get JUCO players into the university and instilling a spread-offense. Not only did several players he recruited get denied, but his spread-offense failed miserably. It wasn't until he inserted Joel Stave back in the lineup that Wisconsin got back to power football and ended the season 8-1.

What's funny is part of the reason a few of your posters didn't want him is because he's lost to Arkansas a few times.
We didnt want Les because, despite tRant's opinion, we are passionate and well informed fans, and quite frankly Les is a mediocre coach that makes boneheaded decisions and has skated by on the blessings of Louisiana's high school talent and recruiting advantages therein.

The contact between Les Miles and Jeff Long were as friends, former Michigan folks.
Long wanted the most proven Big Ten coach and consulted Miles, an old friend on what he thought of Bert.
Miles agent then used the talks to get his client a raise from LSU.
End of story

Les gets to claim a natty and two SEC championships and He gets to coach a team that plays in the most exciting venue in all of college football: Tiger Stadium.
Bert gets to claim the natty for eating the most xtra large pizzas and a win over the Tigers as his big achievements.

quote:No, the narrative is still that he sucks. Congrats on yelling that he's good loud enough and frequently enough to convince the dumb portion of college football fans that he's a good coach. I've said it before and I'll say it again, a coach with 2 SEC wins in 2 years isn't a good coach. All of the "good" coaches in the SEC saw almost immediate success at their respective programs, and it took most of them no more than a year to get 10+ wins and be at the top of their division.
2014 narrative: bert sucks
2015 narrative: he's too good, when's bert getting out of arkie?
i can't wait to see what 2016 brings.
Bert's ceiling is 9 wins as long as he's at Arkansas. Ya'll had the benefit of sneaking up on teams last year after being fricking TERRIBLE 2 years ago and now ya'll are going to see what it's like to be taken seriously and be the target and not the headhunter.
It's so hilarious how fans of weak programs like Arkansas don't understand that it gets exponentially harder to get more wins or even maintain success when you're winning 8 games a year versus 2 games a year.

Only Arkansas fans could believe something this ridiculous. You got a pretty good second choice. Be happy. You don't always have to wish for the best of something when you can have something that is pretty good. There are only so many elite coaches around and Arkansas just didn't have the firepower to get one of them to come. They even offered Sumlin-money to do it. Just be happy you didn't end up with CUSA's favorite runner-up or Brian Kelly's slower, worse MACtion hero.

That type of money was never approved by the RF, which is why it's funny you still seem to run with your agent made up story.
Les Miles was never a target for the Arkansas coaching vacancy.
