Even though his record at Arky his horrid, Hog fans love him right now just because he showed progress this past year. With subpar recruiting he will never win big in the SEC and will eventually be fired after fans are tired of mediocrity.

That's part of the reason why the Miles' offer was so confusing,
Miles was never offered the job.
Long spoke with Miles about his time in the B1G and how it relates to the SEC today and Bert.
Long also spoke with Mile's agent who is also Patterson's Agent since he had expressed interest in leaving TCU for Arkansas.
Mile's agent saw it as an opportunity to play LSU for a raise and was successful in doing so.

Nick Saban lost to U L of fricking M his first season, publicly compared the loss to being equals to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Holocaust, and 9/11 combined and Bama built him a statue.

This attempt at trolling Arkansas fans with the idea that Long offered Miles first over Bielema can't be very effective when truthfully there aren't any knowledgeable Arkansas fans that prefer Miles over Bielema.
And we all know that everyone of you lsu fans realize that, so quit playing dumb.

Nick Saban recommended Houston Nutt as his replacement at LSU,this after Nutt had turned down the Nebraska job. This lead to a loss of popularity for Nutt here.
I know of no one that wanted les miles as our coach. The guy is Wierd and funny and an underachiever at a a school with top quality players, but he would suck big time at a school that didn't have the players LSU can bring in from their in state talent.
Bret is having to recruit the entire country, and is building a solid base of players and coaches.
I think he stays until he realizes he can't succeed or he buys a Harley...

It is absolutely a lateral move

Haven't read through the thread, but everyone's views on the situation are completely off.
How is this a stepping stone for Bielema? He left a program that was playing in Rose Bowls to go to Arkansas. Seems to me he'd be content finishing his career there barring unforeseen circumstances.
I also don't see him getting fired within 3 years. The improvement last year should carry into this year, although I'm not sold on Arkansas being a contender in the West this year (but that's a different conversation).
Bottom line is that I can see Bert coaching at Arkansas for another five years, probably more.

That all fits. I don't dwell on details, but just feel confident that Long never seriously offered Miles. I only mentioned he did, because that was what was reported. You're hypothesis? makes sense.
I can probably think of 17 reasons why Long wouldn't have offered Miles and 0 reasons why he would have.

Saban record after 2 years: 19-8 (12-4 SEC)
Bielema record after 2 years: 10-15 (2-14 SEC)
Also nice to hear a Hog fan make fun of someone for losing to UL Monroe
