We keep hearing about how Tennessee turned it around last year and finished strong under Dobbs, but I bet they would have done the same with Worley because the backend of their schedule was terrible.

Let's look at the teams Dobbs played against:

Alabama: Lost 34-20 in a game not even as close as the final score. Dobbs couldn't get it done despite having 100k friendly fans backing him.

@South Carolina: 6-6 garbage team, and the defense still gave up 625 yards to South Carolina. We keep hearing about Tennessee's offense under Dobbs, but will the defense still suck?

Kentucky: Garbage 5-7 team that beat 3 cupcakes in non conference play and Vanderbilt.

Missouri: Another home loss for Dobbs. Again, this game was not as close as the final score indicated.

@ Vanderbilt: They were terrible last year and still Tennessee only won by 7. Sad that Dobbs could not even replicate the numbers that Temple or UMass or Old Dominion's QB were able to put up. Dobbs only had 92 yards passing in this game. Meanwhile, Old Dominion, UMass and Temple's QBs all put up 200+ yards in the air against Vandy.

Iowa: They were terrible last year in a weak Big 10 West, going 7-5 and being one of the two teams to lose to Iowa State. Iowa's backup QB had more passing AND rushing yards in this game than Dobbs.

In conclusion, Dobbs beat ONE team with a winning record last year, Iowa, who was 7-6 in the weak Big 10 West.

He is being overrated.

UT will be better this year but I agree that they got a lot of hype for beating a bunch of nobodies.

I think most of this site that aren't UT fans would agree with you.

He had a decent 2nd half of the season against a really bad schedule.

The only reason the Vols are really getting hype though, is that there don't appear to be any really good teams in the east except for MAYBE Georgia. And no one in the east has a decent QB.

Add in the fact that there is only one or two decent QBs in the whole damn conference next year, and Dobbs picks up hype.

And to be fair, UT might be good enough to win what should be a really shitty eastern division next year.

People need to chill and just relax throughout the summer and let the new season come instead of hashing over yester year.

The truth has been spoken. The hillbillies always beat their chests after the backside of their schedule full of pastry crème puffs has been played.

UT is improving and is the buzzword now.. after they come to the Swamp they will scurry away like roaches. Recruiting prowness has been shown but that doesn't equate to Ws.

7-5 and they will proclaim the program is advancing. 6-6 and some of them will wake up and realize they are still inferior. 8-4 and it will be difficult to get on this board and see their cocky azzs brag about the next year and how they will be contenders for all the marbles. Have news flash bulletin for them: Oklahoma was predicted to win it all last year by Sporting News...result? 8-4.

To answer the OP he beat zero quality football teams, but he showed a lot potential and that's part of the reason why people are excited for this upcoming season.

Serious question, why do you hate TN so much? Just seems very random.

gave up 625 yards to South Carolina

This is what makes me most sad about the game.

As a WR Pharoh Cooper had 11 catches, 233 yards, and 2 TDs, threw for another TD, and ran for another 23 yard and a TD for a combined 4 TDs total... but it will always be forgotten because or defense gave up even more yards than that.
