You aren't SEC material if you don't know what USC has brought to the conference.

Oops.

Quick read McGraw. Some of your fellow Aggies have caused an apparent inaccurate generalization of almost all Aggies on my part.

Beggin' your pardon.

Nebraska's move to the Big 1G culturally is more difficult than either A&M or Mizzou. Nebraska really didn't play Big 1G schools often and there is little shared history.

Yea that's bullshite. Games played against their new conferences (1895-2011)

NU - 143 LINK
A&M - 70 LINK
Mizzou - 26 LINK

Nebraska, a midwestern school, fits in far better with the B1G, a midwestern conference, than Mizzou, a midwestern school, fits with the SEC, a southern conference.

Yeah. Nebraska does fit in well in the Big10.

But.. to say far better than Mizzou fits in the SEC is just you being bitter.

Nebraska borders 1 state in the Big10.

Mizzou borders 3 states (4 teams) in the SEC. As much as some of you want to paint MU as a horrible addition to the SEC, it isn't as a bad a fit as some of you think.

Number of states bordered doesn't mean shite. SC borders one SEC state. So what?

Nebraska borders one B1G state but much of its population lives on the border with that state.

Missouri may border three SEC states but its population lives nowhere near those states. I mean just look at it, its as if we're looking at a picture of them actively trying to flee the impending arse rape that will be the SEC for safer waters in the Big XII and B1G.

Even if you do want to make a point of borders Missouri still has large borders with three B1G states and only one with an SEC state (KY & TN borders are small) For a long time Kentucky bordered three B1G states and only one SEC. It doesn't fricking matter because that argument is fricking retarded.

Mizzou borders 4, not 3 SEC teams. Cool maps. So how close are the Nebraska folks to their new opponents?

Its just funny to say Neb fits FAR better than Mizzou, when Nebraska borders 1 BIG team, and Mizzou borders 4 SEC.

Sorry you have a new program that will contend in your division, you're bitter.

Actually around here all colas are called "coke", and any flavored drink like say a orange or grape drink is called a "soda"....usually what I have noticed in East TN, GA, and NC....and most of Appalachia....

And a newb school has no right to call anyone a newb no matter their number of posts...I been around this board, just lurked for awhile here, usually at Volnation and the old ESPN forums.......

Yep that's why I just told you to post less. But in all honesty the more the merrier around here. Hopefully you won't hate us as much as an addition after a few years in the conference. We might grow on ya.

Teams? You don't border teams and seriously, borders don't mean jack shite. Missouri doesn't border UT or Vandy and Columbia is hardly close to Knoxville.

Ya'll also have a much longer history with Big Ten teams than you do with SEC teams. Not counting games with Nebraska you all have played B1G members 88 times. That's second only to the number of games you've played against the Big Eight/Big XII. Adding in Nebraska to that number and it will take you TWENTY years of SEC conference play to have played SEC teams as many times as you've played Big Ten teams.

Look, I don't have anything against Missouri, in fact I hold your state in high regard compared to my current state of residence. I just don't think you fit in the SEC.

Thank you. I'm glad Mizzou is in the SEC for Arkansas and LSU games but other than that I can't get into the Mizzou vs SEC East teams, seems out of place compared to them playing a team like Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, etc.

I don't see what people have against aTm. They have a GREAT fan base, GREAT traditions, GREAT support, NICE stadium, Great facilities, etc. A school from Texas in the SEC is very damn good.

So you're focus of argument is the fact Mizzou hasn't played many SEC teams in the past...

Like I said, Nebraska is a great fit in the BIG10. But I don't get how you can say they are a FAR better fit when they only border 1 BIG team, and Mizzou borders 4 in the SEC. And yes, I consider that relevant. More relevant than how often we've played teams in the past.

Arkansas is still without a true natural rival. Mizzou offers that, and it will develop. We've already had a bunch of recruiting battles. Are states blend together with the Ozark region... Yeah Missouri isn't grits south, but its a mixed state that would have fit with both the BIG and the SEC.

And now I know you're goofy, SC is a much cooler state to live in than Missouri. I guess I've always held SC in high regard, maybe its that palm tree moon logo, I always liked that.

Well no, I live in Kansas actually and unfortunately Manhattan of all places. I really do understand why you left the Big XII.

I'm just saying that Missouri will have a tougher time fitting into the SEC than Nebraska in the Big Ten.

Several arguments have been forwarded, one of them was games played, well NU wins that one. You talk about teams "bordered" what ever that means...I think that one is null. You "border" four B1G schools, one of which you share a long standing rivalry, and four SEC. Your population doesn't sit in the Southern portion of your state and the University of Missouri isn't anywhere near your SEC borders. Culturally MO is a mixed bag between the Midwest and South, sure but Nebraska is not, its fully Midwestern. Granted, its not Great Lakes/Rust Belt Midwest but its Midwestern nonetheless.

Besides, Nebraska already fits remarkably well in the B1G. They're a "has been", lost to an SEC team in January and blew a heartbreaking game early in the season to a bad non-conference opponent. Perfect fit.

Mizzou and aTm will feel like SEC teams before Vandy ever does.

Don't hate on Vandy every club needs a gimp, and their probably glad it's about to be Mizzou...I still remain skeptical Mizz will beat them. and Not beating Vandy is really bottom of the barrel, as is losing to Kentucky....(sigh) as Tennessee knows all too well recently. Worse this year Vandy actually has a very good defense, that has me a bit worried..... (Vandy don't worry your not really the SEC Gimp this year, that'd be Ole Miss)

quote:

WTF, if GT came into the SEC they'd easily be in the top half. Lets keep it real.

In basketball maybe. Yeah they've done well in recent years....against ACC schools but even when Georgia was down in SEC they still manage to usually thump them. Don't get me wrong, the way we've been playing last few years they'd have thumped us....and we'd have it coming. But TN hasn't exactly been in the top half for a few years, and last year we were just fighting to do better than Ole Miss...by 1. (TY Gim....Vandy!)
Teams that WOULD beat Georgia Tech this year: BAMA, LSU, Missippi State, Georgia, Tennessee South Carolina
Teams they would be on par with Florida, Arkansas (if QB is back), T A&M
Teams they would likely win against Auburn, Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky, Mizzou
ACC schools can look great playing ACC, but when they walk into SEC the differences especially in defenses becomes quickly obvious. (Auburn does not count this year)

I miss Ga Tech as a Rival, Esp in Chattanooga as Atlanta is a rival in general culturally...would be lots of fun, and my dad is GT alum so I been rooting for them for a long time. I like the Jackets and wish we could see them in SEC. They have incredible heritage, and boast one of the oldest fields consistently used in the southeast. If they returned they'd get better recruits immediately, and likely would become a top half school in short order. I also would like to see Bama - Ga Tech rivalry reignited..... of all the SEC rivalries that may be one of the meanest and came to the shedding of real blood...(mention Darwin Holt among older Ga Tech fans for an instant rant).......their hatred for each other used to be just Legend. As long as they're in ACC though that will not likely be a real rivalry again, they simply cannot recruit to SEC standards there for football.

Don't get me wrong Tennessee could use all the padded wins on its schedule we can get right now, I look forward to the easy W. :D Come to Neyland...you need to see the stadium.....to be honest...you need to see all the Stadiums.....
Don't take it personally....your new, and there's a bit of a competition on who can be most hated by Mizzou first....I'm trying to get extra credit there......I figure once you make your way to Neyland we got a shot at the bet, but sooner or later you'll go to the swamp....and then well....it's just tough to compete with the Shanty Town culture of central Florida. In a competition for annoyance ....they'll win every time.

Ahh, missed that. Shoulda looked at location. Sorry to hear you're stuck in Kansas.

I agree Neb is a better fit in the BIG than MU is in the SEC, just don't think its far better. I like that 'has been' comparison with NEB and BIG. I think that whole region is on the down hill slope.

I get your point on Missouri's major cities not being near the SEC borders.. but I don't think its null that our state borders 4 in the SEC. It might not be that big of a deal, but I don't think its null.

Vandy isn't bottom of the barrel. I don't care if they lost to Kentucky. Selling kids on playing in the SEC, going to a good school, and living in downtown Nashville is pretty good. They got a lot going for them.
