Fun fact for ya - Archie Manning wore #18. I know you would never know this because it seems to never get talked about or used as a speed limit on campus

Why are we trolling OM about the best player in their history 50 years after his time?

You couldn't do this in the 70s?

How good was Archie Manning in college? by lsupride87

No. am of the opinion it is funny watching a fanbase who loves JFF, and celebrates him as their best ever, is trolling Ole Miss about Archie Manning being a bust in the NFL
Somebody should tell Texag and Shane that Archie Manning played with no supporting cast until 1978 and 1979, and even those two years it was all offense, no defense.
If hadn't had to run for his life and hand off and throw to nobodies for the first 7 years of his career, I'm sure he'd have more to show for his career in NOLA.
But unlike at Ole Miss, Archie couldn't do it all in the NFL.
Did you ever see Steve Young's careers in Tampa and then San Francisco?
That would have been Archie had he been with just about any other team in the early to mid 70s...

And this truly stellar Archie performance came one week after arguably the worst game ever for a Manning: an ugly 10-9 road loss to a really BAD Kentucky team featuring QBs Bernie Scruggs and Stan Forston and RB Roger Gann.
