That's not even the issue. I have said that as well.

Has anyone said that he shouldn't?

Then what is the issue?
"Bias" from Andre Ware that is agreed upon fairly overwhelmingly?

Passively they have said as much. That is the nature of this whole race issue.

Oddly enough we had a similar issue in 2008-2009 with Kodi Burns but it was reversed. There was going to be a problem if a white kid got the job over the less deserving African American kid. Thankfully Kodi is an Auburn man and set the whole thing straight.

Point out the use of race. Are you confusing bias with race?

Andre Ware didn't say, "I think Sims should be the starter." He went on and on about how great Sims was and how bad Coker was, neither of which were really true. Both played OK, with Sims, playing a little better.

You want me to link this thread?

Nope. The OP is confusing racial bias with educated opinion.

I haven't said anything about race. I don't know WHY Ware loves Sims so much. As far as I'm concerned race is a non issue.

I didn't watch the Bama game live Saturday because I was in the dove field. But, I watched the replay when I got home, and I couldn't believe how Ware went ON and ON about how great Sims was and how Coker sucked. I assumed he was getting called out on here, but I did a search and couldn't find it.
Some of us were bitching about it in the game thread. Coker looked bad, but even so that is the only time I remember a commentator throwing a Bama player under the bus repeatedly.

I'm not sure how you determine an educated opinion, but I would think you would first watch both qb's and then make a determination. Ware didn't do this. He made his opinion known even before Coker stepped on the field.

But JJ looks like he could start now.
I agree. He has been at AU for 2 years, though, compared to 4 months for Coker.

Coker hasn't looked like that yet.
I agree, in the ONE game he's played at Bama he only looked "meh".

What do we expect from these kids?
If you are just talking about college QB, then Marshall is really good and Sims could be really good. If you are talking about which QB on each roster has the best ceiling/pro potential, I think JJ is that for AU and Coker is that for Bama. Not a knock on either starter. They are the starter for a reason and that reason is they are viewed as the team's best option right now. That said, I just think JJ and Coker both have higher ceilings than either starter.
If Marshall got hurt/suspended then JJ could take over and AU likely wouldn't miss a beat in terms of overall record. If Sims got hurt/suspended then I don't necessarily know if the same could be said for Coker based on the limited sample size we have to make judgement from at this moment.

It may be over, but I don't think so. The true test will be in a big game when there really is a lot of pressure. We've all seen Sims play the last few years, and he freaks during pressure. I personally don't like a running QB. To me he doesn't want to risk taking a lick so he takes off and runs and gets a few yards instead of standing in there a throwing a long pass and taking a hard lick. I really don't care who is the QB. I just want one that can win for us. I don't understand why with all the great recruiting they've done why we can't get a great QB.

I agree. We've had 3 years to prepare someone to take over after AJ and we're left with Sims and Coker.

He displayed great poise as a starter, so I'm not sure what your point is with that.

Did you even watch the first game?
People act like Sims is chopped liver, like its an unfortunate problem that we are "stuck" with him. I, for one, am excited about him. He brings a lot to the table, and I'm not sure why Bama fans can't seem to accept that.

Which QB should be the starter shouldn't even be in this discussion. I've alwaysliked Sims. He's a good kid. And Sims is the guy imo. Most people see that.
The point of the thread was to point out Ware's inexplicable love of Sims in his commentary Saturday. If it had started midgame it would be different. But, he started it immediately.
It was obvious and annoying.
I don't think it was racially motivated. More likely he just dislikes the idea of a guy coming in and taking the job out from under a 5th year starter.
Regardless of the reason, he decided Sims should be the starter and didn't mind going out of his way and making himself sound stupid to convince the viewers.

Limited arm strength is one reason. Inaccurate while on the run is another. His biggest asset is his legs, yet he's too hesitant to run past the LOS. He rolls out a lot and still tries to find a receiver 10 yards down field even though no one's stopping him from running 15 yards.

I think most Bama fans feel the same way as you. The vocal minority (and other teams' fans) make it seem otherwise.
I want whoever helps the team win and play to their peak potential. That's it for me. I don't care if that is left-handed midget wrestler. If we win, I. Do. Not. Care.
Sims has an incredible attitude. I'd love for all 85 to have it.
