Mack won't even start.

This is very hard to believe. He is super strong and has mobility/acceleration that is rare even in DEs. I don't think they can keep a player of his caliber off the field.

That doesn't bode very well.

Otaro Alaka and Josh Walker played gery well as true frehmen, and AJ Hilliard was great against USC in the opener until he broke his ankle. Shaan Washington is solid as well. All four have been hurt in the last calender year though.

After that, it is a bunch of freshmen and JUCOs.

It isnt that wedont have good players at LB, we just that they are young and we dont have enough to afford any injuries.

Chavis turned a usually stout position at lsu into a complete shite show.

How fast are they? And do they have any specialties?

LSU's LBs are incredibly fast because that's what Chavis liked. Lamar Louis is great at stoning blockers while Debo Jones is excellent at open field tackles. Beckwith was originally used as a DE by Chavis but moved to MLB. He has retained the strength and pass rushing moves he learned at DE so he is great at blitzing. (You guys would know about that though )

They won't keep him off the field, but he won't start. Why is that hard to believe? He's a true freshman DT.

Godchaux was a true freshman last year at LSU and passed up multiple four star DTs and a 5 star converted SDE. He had torn his ACL in his senior year and was 270ish lbs. Chavis will play Mack early and often. If he doesn't start the first game he'll start soon.

Carson and white will be the main backs. Carson is a big back with a little burst but no break away speed. Will be consistent. White if I am thinking right has more top end but is still on the big side. He is a true sophomore so still young

I'll be surprised if he starts against ASU but equally surprised if he doesn't get the most snaps against Ball State and Nevada. By the Arky game my guess is he's a starter.

But I've been wrong before.

Auburn looks like they will have the best offensive fire power w/ depth they have ever fielded. Not sure it means they will be as effective as 2004, 2010, 2013/14 or not, but the amount of talent at QB, RB, WR is staggering. O-line is the only possible question mark.

That being said - they will have to win a bunch of close games as usual and all the talent in the world only counts when the game is on the line. If JJ is a gamer like Marshall then there will be alot of highlights on that big arse screen.

I honestly have no idea of what to expect from A&M this year. If the defense improves marginally under Chavis and our offensive output remains comparable to recent years, we will more than hold our own.

Not too worried about the QB situation. My gut tells me Allen is the smarter choice (cue the old cliche of QB's showing the most improvement between year 1 and year 2), but Murray may be too electric to NOT play at some point. Personally, I'd have no problem with a dual quarterback system, but that's highly unlikely and probably not something that Sumlin's staff would even consider.

I'll reserve judgment on the Ags until I see how they fare in the opener against ASU. That needs to be a solid showing in order to boost confidence going forward, because the SEC West will be a long hard slog once again.

The only real concerns are punter, and depth at CB and OT

Everything else is 2 deep with players you can be confident in

we at least have one of the better LBs in the SEC and country

Beckwith will be a 1st rounder barring injury

not to make this a Chavis thread (I mean it!) but I still can't believe he wanted Welter > Beckwith even when Beckwith was a TF. What an awful decision.
