"using Christianity as a ploy in doing so"
--------------------------------------------
Am I the only one here that finds this whole thread amusing? Not b/c I am an AU fan, but because we are all debating the merits of using religion to influence people. But isn't this what churches do every friggin day? Go to any baptist church on Sunday in the south.....they sidle up to you and call you brother despite not knowing shite about you. Is that real love? Maybe. Could it be all a game to get you to join the church and be another piece of the offering plate? To pay for a nice house and car and pimp-like suits for the preacher? Maybe.
Isn't it all a farce in some ways?? Unless you are Mother Teresa living with the lepers and shite with no worldly posessions, ANYONE can question your motives.

I think it is quite possible that Chizik is religious. I know there was a big stink at Iowa State about him wanting a team chaplain.
It seems like they got together and decided what their specific recruiting marketing message was going to be.
One guy had been watching the poker channel and he jumped up and said "All in!" for a slogan. Another guy said they should go for the family atmosphere angle..."Family." Chiz wanted "God" to be the major message. They lumped all three together and have been pushing them like crazy.

you and I both know they've been doing this shite all year. Chizik talks about this stuff moreso than any other SEC coach.
yes I agree with that, but that wasn't my discussion with you. You say its a tactic along with other opposing fans. However, I see that you have chosen to stick with just words and innuendo's in describing the reasons they talk of God, etc. Fair enough that is your right.

Uh, yeah, which is why fewer and fewer people go to church anymore.

Seems to me like AU is using religion to black mail recruits.

You definitely are not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I'm just stating my opinion. It's certainly not a proven fact. I'm fairly educated as well, but thanks for drawing an unintelligent conclusion of myself based on a single post.
I think many others would agree with me.

Are they selling religion to the players or are they selling their program?
Posted on 2/3/11 at 5:07 pm to gatordmb89
They are selling religion and family to the moms. The players are sold Bad Girls club and anything else that might make them go there.

We're talking about Auburn not the Church of Scientology.
