which has the bigger enrollment? endowment? which is considered the better academic institution overall? or is it really even as it appears from the outside?

Honest answer based mostly on facts....
National recognition/brand recognition: Ole Miss and it is not even close.
Enrollment: State and it is not even close. They look close on paper, but UM counts the Med and Law schools which State puts more students in than UM undergrad does. As far as Mississippi High School students go, it would be State without a doubt. Our students are over 70% in State and I think I remember that over 50% of UM was out of State. In fact I remember Dr. Jones saying a couple of years ago that the OM freshman class for that year was 70% out of state.
Endowment: Ole Miss and it is not even close
Academics: As others have said we are exactly equal due to the Ayers case.

Shep works for Fox. Fox, to my knowledge, has not written anything about OM. USA Today, New York Times, Washington Post and many many others have. Nice, tolerant post btw

4 years ago y'all were at 19k and we were at 16k. Now you're at 20,500 and we are at 19k. We will pass you in two years once your huge 5k+ senior class graduates and your second highest enrollment (junior class) leaves. Our last 3 classes have been much larger and we will take over the enrollment championship. Print the shirts and shite

Nah, the 2010 freshman class had a little over 50% OOS,something between 50-55%. That's the only year that OOS was the majority that I'm aware of. We recently increased our admission standards for OOS students.

Freshmen instate enrollment is and has been about the same for both schools. Where state gets the bump in instate kids is they clean up with JUCO kids. Almost 2:1 enrollment from jucos in comparison to OM.

It's a state law to allow an equal playing field for instate students to be able to get in school because there's a bunch of dumbasses that live here.

All public universities in MS have to have the same admission standards. Our admission standards are on par with the likes of Jackson State.

True.
Also, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the student number listed for Ole Miss counts Med and Law School.

Is this including Med center for ole miss and Meridian for State? If not, I'm shocked at those figures. When I was in school, on campus was State at like 14k and olemiss 12k. But I guess that has been awhile now.

And for the record, you just broke out engie type stats for your argument.

I'm almost positive that the UM student number includes the Med and Law Schools. That is very deceiving because State puts more students into them as a whole. Last year college board numbers showed Law school almost equal but State was way in the lead at Med School.

No it's not. We are almost at 22k with UMC. Those numbers are on campus. The growth has been pretty amazing for both schools.

So every college sucks equally instead of having one or two schools that are good. No wonder those college rankings dump on Ole Miss and Miss State.
