Well, since we're just making shite up in this thread. MSU shouldn't count their Ag program, for looks and STD purposes.
Nice. I like this...

Pretty sure the doc who cured Aids was MSU undergrad, so BOOM.

You can't BOOM with something you're "pretty sure" about.

MSU grads are notorious for premature BOOM.

No, she was an OM undergrad.
There has been a lot of made up shite by State fans in this thread.

I thought I made that clear with the BOOM (maybe should have done sarcaBOOM). I have no clue who cured AIDS, but I'm sure there was a MSU grad on the team. And no, I don't mean the patient.

There is a complicated formula for determining if your school is a "flagship":
If your school name includes the phrase "University of (one of the 50 states)" then you are a flagship institution.
As with many things in life, Louisiana is an exception.

Worst crawfishing retraction ever offered on the rant.
Ever.

Mississippi State, Starkville, 2011: 19,724
Ole Miss, Oxford, 2011: 16,586
Southern Miss, Hattiesburg, 2011: 14,795
Congratulations, I was incorrect, Ole Miss is ahead of Southern. Such a notable achievement is worthy of much praise.
ETA: And before you start complaining, 2011 is the latest year that all of the universities list on their websites.

I think I remember that over 50% of UM was out of State. In fact I remember Dr. Jones saying a couple of years ago that the OM freshman class for that year was 70% out of state.
^^^ Actually why I like Ole Miss so much ^^^

Louisiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania have "flagship" state universities that don't use the "University of ..." formula.
ETA: Also New York and New Jersey - NY uses State University of New York (SUNY-Albany, Stony Brook, etc) while NJ's main state U is officially styled "Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey".
I think many states define this status differently.
In California, you would be hard pressed to convince me UCLA is a worse institution than UC Berkeley. Both are outstanding. UC Davis and UC San Diego are both very close as well.
In Texas, we technically have 6 as we have 6 different university systems (UT, A&M, TTU, UH, UNT, TSU-SM) plus a few independent campuses. However, there are clear differences between these universities - UT and A&M are defined as Tier 1 by the Texas Legislature while those other 4 are currently in a competition to enter Tier 1.
Do Ole Miss and State share the same governing structure?

This upcoming class of 2017 at the medical school has more undergrad Ole Miss students than State students. I am one of them and have access to those currently accepted for roommate opportunities.

At least allow us to be somewhat hypocritical and include regular grad students. For comparison, MSU can't count Vet school and Ole Miss can't count Med or Law. In that formula looks like Starkville is about 2500 ahead of Oxford. Based on this, I think it is clear that more people prefer Starkville over Oxford.
