They may be the only SEC school but they still need to fight Jimbo Fisher, Mark Richt, Scott Frost, Charlie Strong, and Lane Kiffin for in-state recruits. It's not like they have the entire state of Florida to themselves.

We won't be fighting Kiffin or Frost for anybody. Strong may make a push for some high quality players with time but it's just Richt and Fisher we have to worry about in Florida. Guys like Smart and Swinney are more threatening than any coach at FAU or UCF.

Lol. You don't think Texas, Georgia, Alabama, or Louisiana are talent rich? Just because Mississippi is somehow on the lower end of southern talent, doesn't mean it isn't there. Plus, the best college town in the state isn't even an SEC school.

You can bury your head in sand but you know as well as I do that there will be a few kids a year who would rather play for a young coach with an exciting offense. They may not be near the threat that FSU is but don't pretend that they won't manage to take a few good players a year that y'all could use to fill the roster.

Spurrier benefited from having Ron Zook as an asst coach and Zooker was a recruiting machine imo and none better.Zook said at his presser when he came back as HC at UF...that he just needed a cellphone and he was going to call recruits while he showered and hit the bricks. Meyer won BCS NC with Zooks senior laden class in 2006.

Add Butch Davis to the list too. UF will mainly battle FSU and Miami for the top players. The others will mainly compete for 2nd tier talent.

However, some out-of-state schools (Bama, UGA, LSU, Clemson, OSU, Mich...) can and do pluck some blue chip recruits out of Florida.

So QB play is not a problem? We don't have a QB right now that's why Applybe is starting in the bowl game. I haven't seen franks play this year . He was a 4 star recruit , next year we see if he can actually play.

I said QB was a problem. Also when Mac was hired in Dec he didnt have alot of time so he went after positions of need. We had Grier and Treon -2 4 star QBs-on the roster and the QB spot was supposed to be fine. Then the suspension and we saw how bad Treon was. The next cycle Mac went out and got 2 more QBs. The whole offense is mostly Fr and So players, no reason to throw a Fr QB out there as well. Im sure Franks will start next season and we'll see how it goes.

If by one or two a year, you mean one or two every five years, then yeah I'll buy that. I can't remember a single recruit we've lost unwillingly to any Florida school other than FSU or Miami in the 10+ years I've closely followed recruiting. We take recruits from them; not the other way around.

I'm pretty sure you misunderstood him. He meant they're the only SEC school in Florida and they should be better at recruiting because of it, sort of like Richt at Georgia.

FSU's lone advantage over UF is that it has lower standards.

False.

It is more competitive to get into FSU than UF right now do to a enrollment freeze at FSU. FSU also has superior facilities to UF, and FSU has boosters that are more willing to give money to the program.

Show me a bull gator that is cutting checks for a 8-5 season under Swamp Donkey. Oh I forgot, 8-5 is now a good season at Florida because they "got to Atlanta."

Tell me how UF has fared against FSU the last 6 years. UF is a dumpster fire. Don't sugar coat it PAL.

Again, Scott Frost just wrapped up his first season at UCF while Kiffin and Strong just got hired so the past ten years are kind of moot point. The point I'm making is that you now have 3 historically uncompetitive in-state schools with new head coaches that are better recruiters than McElwain. To believe that they won't have an effect on your recruiting in the future is down right foolish.

False. UF students and UF's academic departments have always been better. Always.

An erector set with bricks around it does not count as a facility.

False. UF alumni run the state of Florida and are much more successful and donate more money. FSU can't even sniff boosters on the level of BHG family.

Boosters are cutting checks to get hundreds of millions in projects going - right now. They pulled in about 20 million in like a week after Meyer's 2006 title.

Why are you even running your mouth? You're a fan of FAMU. Enjoy that shitshow. Community colleges across the state won't even encourage transferring to FAMU. It's the last resort in Florida. And, UF, UCF, USF all are considered superior to FSU in academics, quality of student, quality of location, and every other metric. Hell, UF had to treat FSU like a charity just to get medical training established there. It's a third rate institution filled with idiots.

An enrollment freeze LULZ.....that's not a sign of quality. That's a sign of capitulation.

Uhhh

He means we are the only SEC school in Florida. We don't share the state like Bama/AUB, Miss St/Ole Miss or Vandy/UT

I think this is one of the stupidest things I have ever read on the Rant. Clearly, BagMan69 has no clue about which he speaks.

FSU is not even in the same stratosphere for competitive entry into the school. As for facilities, Bagman has apparently never been to their facilities. They are crap. Improved crap, but crap. I was there in November. They are still crap. As for boosters, UF has superior booster support by a large margin. Gator Boosters is one of the most successful businesses (it is private) in the state of Florida. Look it up.

Florida is no Princeton (Go Tigers!), but FSU is no Florida.

I hear this every time one of the other schools hires a new coach.

What? FSU takes a ton of kids from us. So has Bama, LSU, Clemson and now Michigan and OSU.

These names ring a bell?

Dalvin Cook
Deondre Francois
Ermon Lane
James Wilder JR
Alex leatherwood
Christian Miller
Adonis Thomas
George Campbell
Aaron Robinson
CJ Spiller
NCM& Jayvaughn Myers(hell WM took half the commits to AUB)

Etc.

UF has never had a monopoly on the state like Bama, LSU or Texas does on theirs
