What sort of statline is Arky fans expecting from Davis?
Posted on 7/14/12 at 1:02 pm to AllBamaDoesIsWin
Hopefully in the 900-1200 yards, 10-15 TD area

Why wouldn't he have more yards than that?

The offense should be top 10 in the nation again, maybe push for top 5. The OL will be much better as we return 52 starts at C and RG, 11 starts at WT and Brey Cook and Smothers who got good experience last year. I'm of the thought that OL will be one of the strongest spots on the offense.
Davis, Johnson, Wingo are all back at RB. That trio makes us a threat to run and throw to the RBs. Small is back at FB. Kid went through over 20 facemasks last season.
JLS stated yesterday that Wade may be back and he expects everything to be resolved with him in the coming weeks. Hamilton is going to be our best WR. He is an NFL ready WR and should have a great year. Horton, Keante Minor are another two to keep an eye on. They both may have really good years.
Gragg may be the best TE in the conference now. He was such a playmaker last year for us and I expect the same out of him this season.
Wilson at QB really doesn't need much talk. We all know he is a tough sob and can get it done.
DT is probably the deepest and most talented unit on the team. The Jones' , Thomas, and Davis are going to be tough up front. These guys looked like a totally different group in the Cotton Bowl with different coaches who call a more attacking style.
DE is a mix of veterans with Smith, Miles-Nash. Flowers really showed out last year as a Tr-FR. Big things are on the horizon for the Alabama kid. He made great strides as the season went on. Flynn is a weight room beast. JUCO transfer who has and has a lot of hype. I just hate to get too caught up in juco hype until later in their first season.
LB should be a good spot for us. Not as deep as the Dline but has some talent. All Sec Highsmith is back at OLB and should be even better with 1 year under his belt. Tank Wright made the move from DE to the Mike spot. Coaches raved about him in spring and really think he is the missing piece at LB. We shall see.
At CB we return Mitchel and Winston who seperated themselves from upper classmen in 2011-12. Winston has gotten better but this needs to be his breakout year to be a lockdown corner. Mitchel may have been the best FR CB we have seen last year. That says a lot for the kid. A repeat performance of his TR FR season would bode well for us.
Over at safety Bennett returns for his 3rd year. He has started 2 years and been a very solid player. He isn't flashy, but he does his job. Ross Rasner moves from the Jack LB back to safety. Rasner is probably my favorite player on the team. He had problems covering WRs from the LB spot, but being back at safety and seeing the play develope should help him this year. He has a nose for the ball and will bring the wood.
Special teams could be a key spot for us.
Johnson returns as the KR where he owns the school record for return yards. He can take it to the house at any time and has done so in his career.
Breeding returns as punter. Arguably one of the best punters in the nation, he was tops in conference in yds per punt a year ago.
Hocker at kicker will be a key cog for the team. In his 2 year career he is 100% on kicks over 50 yds, has hit 82% of his FGs and is damn near 100% inside 40 yds. All of his 50+ yarders have come on the road in conference play. He has 222 career points which puts him 6th on the Arkansas all time scoring list, for all positions. Hocker also kicked touchbacks over 75% of the time a year ago.
Johnson is also preparing to return punts if needed. Wade coming back certainly bolsters our punt return game this year. So PR is a wait and see.

BC we use a RB by committee. KD will get bulk of the carries, but look for Dennis Johnson and Ronnie Wingo to get touches as well. The could spell KD for drives per game

So basically, according to your evaluation, Arkansas is absolutely loaded everywhere and no weaknesses. Can you say NC?
I especially love the DL being the deepest and best unit on the team...especially considering that you guys are rated like 8th in the SEC at the position. LOL
Seriously, I wonder what kind of evaluation you would give LSU or bama if you were a fan of those teams...given the evaluation you just gave on arky. BTW, aren't you the one saying arky can't beat bama or LSU? lol

I would expect at leats 1k out of Davis. DJ really came on last year so he may cut into some of his yards.
I wouldn't be surprised though to see this years offense go through Davis and see him get around 1300. I guess it will just depend on how the season goes and what the defenses try to key on.

I wouldn't give Wingo many carries. Let KD get Ingram-like carries, and let Johnson get Richardson-like carries.
See 2009 Bama.

How many yards did they give up the game before that? Against JJ to boot.

They can easily win 10 games again.

You're not very smart are you?
Tell me, was there any change with the Arkansas defense from the LSU game to the game with Kansas State? Possibly a coaching overhaul? I can't seem to remember...

Agree. I think you really only bring Wingo in on obvious passing downs for his blocking and receiving abilities.

In all fairness, they were without their O last year. If you they are healthy, you go ahead and disregard going to Columbia this year.

Also to the OP, Wade will most likely be back on the team at the start of the season. Smith just wants them off the team until all of the legal issues are handled. From reports I've seen, Wade should get a slap on the wrist since he was just the "look-out". If that's the case, Arkansas' offense gets a major boost. He's about as close to Joe Adams as you can hope to get. He's already had a return for a TD.

Thank you Hog fans! What our fans or any other fans from other schools think was not the intent of this thread.
BTW i hope we kick y'all asses again this year! But do fully expect a good game.
