Get the frick out of here with your Crimson glasses. Neither one of these hits are worthy of a flag.

damn you are stupid. ONe is a QB in the pocket. The other is a QB who is now a RB as he is advancing the ball. A RB can lower his head as he hits the hole. Thus it is virtually impossible for all defensive players to avoid helmet to helmet contact. Let me say it again. Damn you are stupid. How old are you and how long have you been following FB?

A QB holding the ball is not defenseless. Sorry. You are quite clearly wrong.

I think he has watched plenty of FB he just does not grasp the concept of targeting. The hit to Hurts was borderline targeting as he led with the crown of his helmet. It does not matter where his face mask hit Hurts. Simultaneously when the crown hits Hurts the facemask has to go somewhere. He did not lead with his face mask which is how they are taught to tackle.

While I agree neither hit should have been flagged, you are an idiot. A quarterback standing in the pocket is not the same as a runner. Running backs lower their head all the time as they are taught to do so helmet to helmet hits happen on runners all the time. You dumb baw.

I didn't see either as particularly flaggable.

You're close to understanding how the rules work. The next step is to realize that, by rule, a "helmet to helmet" hit is only illegal against a defenseless player. Ball carriers (including QBs who are not in the middle of a throwing motion or have just finished throwing) are not defenseless. This makes helmet to helmet legal.

Any player at any time who initiates forcible contact with the crown of the helmet and satisfies at least one condition of targeting has committed a penalty.

It's not shocking or anything but there are alot of Bammers who are ignorant of the rulebook here
