Not as many as we should have. 40+ maybe.

Why do you ask?

Very complicated scheme for college players. You will be able to see this when you see your players scrambling to be in position at the snap. There will be hands up and frantic shuffling indicating "where in the frick am I supposed to be." A few heads will still be looking at the sideline for guidance at the snap. You will see this a lot on 3rd downs but on other downs less frequently. I couldn't have cared less about him being an a-hole....which he is. Just don't be an arrogant a-hole while your defense, week in and week out, appears to have no clue about their assignments and where they are supposed to be on the field.

I know there is still a hefty perception of Georgia among your fans but the truth is Georgia isn't more talented than any west team. There is really nothing about Georgia anymore, players or coaches, that intimidates a west team. I don't see any way y'all can stop States running game and if our pass defense is a fraction better than last year, state wins by 2 tds.

The issue with the hands in the air relates to our MIke linebacker. We were thin at ILB. Our more athletic linebacker (Christian robinson) couldn't hold up against the run. Our starting Mike linebacker (Marcus dowtin) couldn't handle the responsibilities needed in third downs. So we were probably the only team in America that pulled off the Mike linebacker from the field on third down and ran on a Mike linebacker like Christian Robinson.

Mike is the position that helps align the DL, OLB, nickel and other ILB.

The hands in the air was because either the Mike linebacker didn't get the play call as he was running to the other side of the field or the players didn't learn their positioning without a coach on the field (Mike ILB) helping them.

I seriously doubt that Grantham has had this personnel issue at his other stops. I doubt that it continues.
