So Grantham somehow shut out Auburn in 2014 for Georgia from Louisville? That's interesting.

Grantham's an okay coach, terrible recruiter, and an arse.

I stand corrected, you are right. He left uga in 2014

But I won't let that distract me from the fact that he held Gus to 7 points in 2011. This post was edited on 8/15 at 10:45 pm
And shut out Auburn in 2012. Why you skipping that one?

Grantham is an outstanding schemer. He's a terrible recruiter, but if the talent is in place, he's amazing at designing exotic blitz packages. Unfortunately his biggest problem at Georgia was that his playbook was way too complex for college players who don't have 40+ hours a week to study it.
Shawn Williams (UGA safety, 2009-2012) supposedly said his playbook with the Redskins was half the size of his college playbook.

His shite defense cost us the 2013 game. The 2010 game was Cam going to God-mode at the same time Bobo decided throwing to AJ Green would be a bad idea.
Auburn was 11-1 in 2013 in regular season and scored a lot on most everyone.

That could be possible but we have assistant coaches Terrell Buckley and Ron English etc that know how to recruit.
I tell you something that might surprise you, Dan Mullen is not a good recruiter except he spends a lot of time looking for QB's. Every MSU fan will tell you that. I wish he did but he doesn't.

They didn't score 43 and have a gazillion rushing yards on everyone. Florida State held them in check.
That defense looked lost all year. Clemson, South Carolina, LSU, Tennessee, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Ga Tech, and Nebraska had their way with the 2013 Georgia defense. That offense should have been good enough to win a national title until Murray blew his knee out. The defense was entirely too atrocious.

That does sound a lot to me that he can do well with good talent but bad recruiting catches up to him.
ETA: I do know this, while Mullen is not a great recruiter himself, he does the best job evaluating talent and gives a thumbs up or down depending on who is being recruited by other assist coaches.

That doesn't surprise me at all. His teams are always well coached, physically tough, and don't beat themselves. He'll have to overcome Grantham to keep that up. There will be 2-3 games where you think Grantham is the answer and then he will look clueless against South Alabama. That's who he is.

That's sort of the problem. The 2013 Georgia defense was loaded with superstar underclassmen who looked lost all year. It came to a head when two of them knocked each other out of the way trying to defend a Hail Mary against Auburn.

You do understand that nobody can mess it up more than we had last year. Seriously, it wasn't just the secondary, prized recruits degressed.
Nobody will convince me Grantham is not a better DC and make leaps over last years defense.

I'll be honest, I didn't watch a lot of Miss St games last year. All I can tell you is what happened with Grantham at Georgia, and that Nick Fitzgerald is going to be really good.

The one thing I like hearing from UGA fans is Grantham blitz schemes etc. If getting to the QB is what he does best then no wonder he is at MSU.
Telling you, we have guys who can get to the QB and / or presure them. It's been a while since we've had a front 7 like this with speed. And our linebackers are filthy good.

2012 Gus wasn't at Auburn so that doesn't count anyway, and we had a 2* walk-on true freshman QB starting by that point in the midst of a 3-9 season.
2011 had Clint Mosley (another 2*) and AJ Greene, the worst LT in SEC history
With the amount of raw talent Georgia had on defense those years, my 11 yr old niece could have used an EA Sports Xbox game playbook to shut down those Auburn offenses. Everybody with a decent defense did those years
The three years we played Georgia with a serviceable QB that actually had an FBS talent level Auburn average 41 points and 452 yards of offense against Granthams defense
49 points and 566 yards of offense being the highs.... should have been even higher. Gus took his foot off the pedal in 2013 and allowed them back in the game when he could have easily named the score, they weren't stopping us at all. We had our way with him.
Unfortunately for State and Grantham, Auburn has a good QB again and an even better OL and RBs... expect the trend of Auburn having their way against Grantham with a good offense to continue. 40+ points and 500+ yards. Bookmark it.

Tre Mason had 200 rushing yards and we had 450 yards of offense against Florida State
And we did have a gazillion rushing yards and essentially 43 points against everybody
Averaged 39.5 ppg in 2013. And we averaged 328.5 rushing yards per game. Second in the NCAA to Navy and the best rushing offense in SEC history
But Grantham does suck arse against any decent Auburn offense.

I booked it
Good to know, although I don't expect you'll be bumping it.
Member last season? 35-3 at halftime.. with Sean White at QB.
The new OC Chip Lindsay isn't one for taking the foot off the throat with a big lead like Gus is. Could get ugly this season

Predict a score. And that's knowing we play back to back games vs LSU & UGA right before yours. Give me a prediction.
